It's even more fashionable if you're a Canadian and you hate America.
I guess you could say that. Though that's like the trend on it's way out.Originally posted by: BD2003

3. The US is a racist country.
Wow...I'm really sorry you feel that way. But let me make some logical points.
1. There is no reason to believe that because we have a high prison population, we're a human rights violator, and further, I remind you that the U.S. is the world's third most populous country.
2. Show me a stastic (solid and with a large sample size) that indicates that the capital punishment program has proportionally more minorities than the rest of the U.S. judicial system. If you can conclusivly make that case, I'm willing to concede that point, if not, I ask you to do a logic check.
3. What does this mean? Many complain that we make generalizations, yet with on broad stroke, you characterized nearly THREE HUNDRED MILLION people as racists.
Furthermore, I guarantee you that you can find a better correlation between economic status and improsonment than race and imprisonment. What does this mean? That we have a problem, yes, but that it is economic, and not racial problem that we have, and the solutions to that are a lot less obvious, are they not?
Please, In the future think about these things before you make such insensitive and logically weak arguments.
You missed my point. I answered OP's question of why the US is hated.
I'm confused...do you agree with the statemnts you made, or simply posit them as commonly held misconceptions/half truths?

What do I think?
I am not surprised that US citicizens have trouble accepting that the rest of the world does not consider the US to be god's gift to the rest of the world.
What I wrote earlier is what I have heard from people from other countries said about the US.
I think that US foreign policy is the major reason the US is hated.

I don't hate America, but I can understand why some people do. It's mostly because of stuff like this:

They hate us because we have 229 years of being better than any other country. Our culture is the culture of the winner. We take the good, the desirable, and the wanted, hotglue some glitter and ribbon on it, and sell it back to the rest of the world. And those foreigners stand in lines to lick it up, moaning about the horror of it all, but licking it up just the same.
yup pretty much that's the America no one outside of the US can stand
Totally agree!
Agreed

Just thought I'd like to say that I have never met an American in my life who thought that that the US was gods gift to the rest of the world. I have no idea where some of you get that idea.

My friend...get over it. That was six years ago. You can't change the past, and bringing it up time and again only seves to make you look bitter, which hurts any other argument you're making.
