Why do people *hate* on those that back their expletive deleted up?

From what I gather Muhammed Ali was really good, but not great.....at least if you look at his numbers. But to hear him tell it it's a different story.

I'm a big fan of the strong silent type who whoops ass without bragging about it before hand or afterwards. The Clint Eastwood syndrome I call it. Speak softly and carry a big stick.

Persoanlly I like a lot of Kanyes work, and I don't like some of it as well. I am turned off by his sense of entitlement. At first it was funny, and I thought maybe he was being somewhat funny about it all, but once I saw some of his tantrums I realized he might have SOME talent, but overall he's a very insecure man who needs constant adoration, and when he doesn't get it he gives it to himself. I tend to not pay these type people any attention.

The sad thing about Kanye is if he just let his work speak for itself he'd have a better chance of recieving more accolades. As it stands I think a lot of people deny him his proper due, whatever that may or may not be, simply because of his attitude.

Kanye is his own worst enemy.

Tigers just a force on the other hand.

Humility is far more attractive than being a cocky prick.

You know when you're the best? When everyone BUT you says it. If you have to say it, all that means is you have something to prove.

Yup. IOW, people don't hate people who "Back their Shit up", they just hate "Shit". "Shit" smells and most people do not enjoy it.

Nah I don't think what Amused was saying. Maybe amused can clear it up for us? I'm going to have to also disagree with you Sandorski. People definitely hate on people that back their shit up. I just don't get why, if you don't want to hear it, become better then that person at the competition/matter in question.

Then your reading comprehension sucks. Sandorski got it right in his second post.

Please repeat my sentence and explain to me what I said.

Proving you're the best and running around crowing about being the best are two entirely different things. The later is NEVER a good thing.

The more they boast, the less they truly are. When dealing with subjective opinion or talent, as apposed to assessment of skill, definately a short lived career for cocky dumbasses.

not true at all, one of the most cocky athletes ever was Ali, and Ali talked more shit than anyone. If you're really that good you can talk all the shit you want.

I think the creation and popularity of the word "hater" was for the sole ability to be able to brush off all attempts at legitimate criticism.

"Hey, Kanye. The facts show that you're a no-talent ass-clown."
"Aww, man. You just be hatin!"
"No, no. I have documents and peer-reviewed research showing that you literally possess no talent. Also, here are pictures of you wearing a big red nose, giant shoes, and being birthed from a man's rectum."
"Stop hatin!"

Just because you CAN do a thing does not mean you should.

Ali was certainly the first, at least as I remember. At least he tried to be Artistic about it and it was more as a spectacle for the audience. These newer trash talkers miss the point and take it too seriously.

there is a difference btw being confident and proud of ones accomplishments than being cocky and feeling like you have 'shit' to back up

if you really are that great there really shouldnt be anything for you to say at all

Jerry Rice was the GOAT and he never not once ran his mouth about it to my knowledge. Barry Sanders was another one. I don't remember one incident with either of them spouting off.

On the other hand, Ray Lewis is also one of the best ever and I can't stand his stupid dance and arrogant nature and will be glad when the team can get out from under his shadow. You would think that having gone through the Atlanta murder thing he would have learned a lesson in humility but obviously not.

Shit talkers stir the pot, weather you love or hate them, they're the ones people talk about. look at Ray Lewis, and there's Tito Ortiz who's one of the biggest I can think of. He hasn't even had that great of a fight for a long time now, but he's still the top draw for the UFC. It's not because he use to be a great fighter, it's because he talks shit. If he was a great fighter who was quiet about it, and fell off to where his fights weren't all that great, nobody would remember him or want to see him like the do now. "nice guys" bore me, I don't exactly like the dudes who carry on and on about how they're the GOAT, but I do like some color and some smack talk. If you're a fan of that person it gives you a good performance to look forward to. And if you hate them you can hope they get their asses handed to and it shuts them up.

Ali was hilarious though. Very charismatic.

See Theo, you're mixing in "character" about a person. I can't judge character of a person through a TV screen, the only thing I can judge is ability to relative to others in a sporting competition or album sales in Kanye's case. I think if someone is the best at something, they can run their mouth as much as they want until someone takes it from them. MJ was a BIG shit talker and still is apparently but we still look at him as the BEST. Through my experiences, people are more remembered for what they have done more so then what they say, especially athletes.

Thats cause he was a god.

Chuck Liddell is pretty soft spoken. And from what I see, he's still pretty high up there.

Liddell is one of the rare athletics who has very little personality in interviews and is very quite. Yet still has a lot of fans, he's definitely a Redneck icon I think they like him for his Mohawk and the fact he comes to fight and always has a beer belly 🙂

But even with that said Ortiz is a much bigger draw, and Liddell has ALWAYS been a better fighter.

you shouldn't lump Tiger in with those guys. He's not a cocky douche

I had to think twice about Tiger, but a lot of the golfers I know don't like Tiger because they think he's cocky. I don't play golf and only see the highlights and personally didn't think he boasted much, but if he did, he has the right to do so. I just lumped Tiger in because some golfers see him that way.

Tiger has every right to be cocky....those around him shouldn't be jealous.

I'm the sh!t because I can ban everyone in this thread. Anyone who disagrees will be banned.

Annoying isn't it 🙂

no, but makes me kinda tread lightly...

Kanye has a few good tunes but the other two guys are gods in their respective sports. They aren't nearly as big of a dbag as Kanye.

PRECISELY! I don't get why people get jealous when someone that is dominant at something actually goes out and says it. I understand the idea of someone being humble but I don't think it is a necessity for the best. If you're the best, whether it be at selling records, scoring baskets or TDs you can talk all you want till someone takes the title of "BEST" away from you.

Please, for the love of all that is holy, stop comparing Kayne West to Tiger Woods.

Kanye West is an untalented douchebag. Tiger Woods is the greatest golfer to ever play his sport. They are totally uncomparable.
