Why? Makes your property value go up doesn't it?
Yep because along with them came indoor plumbing and electricity;)

But it makes the quality of life go down unless you like crowding and traffic.

EDIT: Oh, our history is pretty cool too.

The only problem I have with California history is that its not. You guys have been promising for the longest time to break off into the ocean but you can't get your act together and commit.

Means that young families are priced out of owning a home. It's happening in NV too, and it is a shame.

...because you can now get fined up to $500 if you're caught using a plastic bag. At least that's what I believe I heard on the news this morning.

So for those of you that don't want the californians to come to your state.... what would you have them do? B/c by saying "don't come here, we don't want you" you're being snobbish in your own right.

I have no problem with californians coming to visit, but I don't like them driving up the cost of living drastically and I don't like the incredibly bad and rude CA drivers. CA drivers are IMO, the worst on the planet.

You have not driven in NYC, pretty much all of China or Taiwan, and many other places. It's good to know that the ATOT random assumption syndrome is alive and kicking.

Its like Little California around here (NM). 1/4-1/3 new suburban homebuilds are bought by escaped/evicted Californians (according to real estate friend) and the housing costs have soared, partially as a direct result. (edit: or bought as an investment)

I don't blame them tho and would do the same (ie sell an astronomically priced house, buy a low priced one, and live comfortably without the overpopulated chaos.)

californias biggest problems are pollution and traffic. the cost of living is too high and houses in most cities are way overpriced for their size, as is everything in the supermarkets.
Barely anyone carpools, most people drive suvs, crime rate is high, the beaches aren't all that, and the mountains are ok, but they aren't the rockies.

On the good side, the weather is nice.

I'm in anaheim hills btw.

Gun laws are crazy, car regulations are crazy, people are crazy. did i miss something?
Yeah Northern California. The closer you get to LA the more the Stereotype becomes true. The Problem with SoCal is that it's become so god damned crowded plus all the Mexicans moving there. Even those from SoCal are complaining about it, especially all the Mexicans. Unfortunately the Bay Area is starting to overpopulated and resembling SoCal (minus all the Illegal Mexicans)

And here we go with the Mexican bashing.

Even so both Southern and Northern CA are different when you travel around those areas. You can go from Irvine to Inglewood and see two different worlds. Similarly you can go from Los Altos to Oakland and see two different worlds. The Bay Area is overpopulated in the POS areas like the East Bay. The rest of it is fine. The East Bay is a dumpster for the Bay Area.

I feel Texas has rude drivers, but CA has incompetent drivers. They're not the same. But in the end you have accidents from both...

Yeah, but I can buy a 1.75l bottle of Kettle One vodka for $31.99 in my local supermarket any time of the day 7 days a week. :p

Gun laws are crazy if you're a crazy gun owner. Honestly, I own 12 guns and never had any difficulty buying any of them.

No one wants to admit it, but its petty envy - California is by far the most successful and influential state and that causes a lot of resentment. For a lot of people this is made even worse by the fact that CA is leftist and their ideology doesn't let them think such places can be successful.

Oh bullsh!t. I was born and raised in CA. I choose to leave.

CA is successful DESPITE the leftist laws, not because of them. If CA didn't have the terrain, ports and the weather, it would fail miserably.

And like I said, I don't hate CA. I just hate most of the people.

you hated most of the people in CA. I'd suggest it's not just their fault

That and a general culture clash; in spite of the shared liberal leanings, newly transplanted Californians are often much too loud and aggressive compared to what the norm is in Oregon. One of our governors, Tom McCall, said it best when he said "Come visit us again and again. This is a state of excitement. But for heaven's sake, don't move here to live."

I don't like Kommifornia because of their disregard for freedom in the form of their gun laws. There are heroes such as Ronnie Barrett out there though, who refuse to honor warranties of his 50cal rifles owned by the state (and who also introduced the .416 barrett round, to get around their retarded laws).

Californians are some of the most Environmentally-Friendly people on the planet.

(If you don't believe me, bury one, and after 6 months of decomposition, test the soil quality. :p)

(/edit: j/k, please don't try that test at home. ;))

Laguna beach would be nice if it wasn't such a snobby little tourist trap....
California!=LA is the same as NY!=NYC, CO!=Denver

While I hate the Malibu type, your talk is non-sense. Wreck a bunch of houses for the environment? Yea, that will help the outsider's view of radical California lawmakers.

CA is alright. The weather is nice but gets smoggy, the girls are prettier but meaner, and theres a lot of variety (food, activities) but its more expensive. There are better, safter places to live, but I was born here so its the only place I can call home.
