why do Navy guys get picked on so much?

Well, more power to you if you like them. I think dress uniforms are ugly and tacky. I feel like since I have to wear a uniform every day, when I have the opportunity to go somewhere nice, I'm going to wear a nice suit or tuxedo as the occasion may dictate. I don't like feeling like I'm in the Army when I'm not at work.

There are only three branches of the military. The Army, Air Force and Navy. Marines fall under the navy as do the coast guard in times of war.

Wow, that's pretty much the opposite of the type of country the founding fathers intended. They were even wary of a standing army. The idea of forcing everyone into the military when there was no credible national security threat would've horrified them.

Civilian control over matters other than operations is exercised through the three service departments, the Department of the Army, the Department of the Navy (which includes the Marine Corps), and the Department of the Air Force. Each is led by a service secretary, who are below Cabinet rank.

Wow.. I may be a cynical asshole (and I know i am but that's me)
but I have so much pride for my country as a whole and the fact that I was so proud of what I did all of us wore our uniforms and flight jackets with our squadron patches all the time.

hell half my wardrobe is still various Navy attire t-shirts ball caps.. my cruise jackets and flight jackets..

still wear my hair Navy short as well.

I always wanted to show that I was AD. Girls loved guys in uniform anyway.. so easy to pick up women when they know you are military.

I never liked the current enlisted dress uni's there was a time when even enlisted sailors wore suit type uni's but then it got switched back to the 13 button stuff bleech. Other than that Go Navy!

I don't wear any Army related stuff when I'm not working. Nor do I keep a military haircut (easy way to spot someone as being .mil,) or wear dogtags... I always hate it when I see guys wearing their tan boots with jeans. Yuck.

I don't like the kind of girls that like guys in the military. They usually turn out like this.

I wore my dress blues with pride, and didn't feel ashamed of my dress uniform, obviously you do as you would rather put on civies and blend in....

IMO, some of the Navy pukes I've met over the years deserved every single bit of crap that they've been given by the other branches...if only because of the uniform...😛...but then again, SOME of the Navy pukes were the finest people I've ever met...and I was proud to fight with them. We went out on a couple of "picnics" that we just couldn't walk to...so they got the Seal teams to give us a ride in their nice little boats...()🙂
THOSE motherfuckers have balls the size of BIG brass church bells...They always managed to get us into whatever "picnic grounds" we were going to...and on a couple of occasions, when our "ride home" couldn't make it...they came back in and picked us up.

The other group of Navy pukes that will always have my undying respect is the Navy Corpsmen. Finest men Marines I ever served with...and their balls are every bit as big as those of the Seals. I know many men who survived Vietnam due 100% to the Navy Corpsmen.

Every time I meet someone who is or was a Corpsman, I thank him for what he does/did.

The "average swabbie"...most are decent folks doing a job...often in much more comfortable conditions than the grunts, but still getting the job done every day.

And yes, like it or not, serving our country in one of the branches of the military is a thankless job. It's always been that way...and probably always will be that way.

I'd prefer to look good than try and score points based on unfounded respect\admiration\sympathy for a uniform. When I see people wearing dress uniforms at weddings, I think of a brain washed West Pointer I knew that wrote an OPORD for his wedding. When I see people wearing dress uniforms at bars or other places, I think they're just using the uniform for their own purposes.

For what it's worth, I've only ever worn my dress uniform when it was required for formals, funeral detail and CNO duty. When I've accompanied a female service member to her formal, I always opt to wear a tuxedo instead of a dress uniform. I just look and feel better in a tux than a dress uniform. :|

If you don't want to, or aren't allowed to answer, I understand - but what were you and where were you? i.e. what were you that you got taxied by SEALs, and what/where were picnic grounds?

USS Phoenix L.A. Class Fast Attack Sub , USS Arizona is a Battleship that sank during Peral Harbour no other ship of the line has the name

Most state named ships are Boomers/Battleships and city names are Fast Attacks/LPD's

they are very honorable serviceman. stop dissing the people that put their lives at risk, 24/7 around the world for their country.
it's a much more complex branch than what most people can comprehend; aircraft, science, special forces, nuclear arsenal, submarines, etc.
