not really. if shes an accountant and not a device techie, telling her to put it in the cradle while charging could essentially be the only part she heard when you said plug in the cable and put it in the cradle to charge. not odd at all to me, but when dealing with IT matters i tend to try to look at the probs from their side, not a pompous IT guys side. i deal with too many asshats with titles in too many govt IT offices to not know they all think they are way above everyone else where tech is considered.

WRONG!
my job to support electronic devices includes fixing a broken device, not educating the stupid user how to use it...

you wouldnt take your new car to a mechanic garage to learn how to put gas into it... would you?

thats what users manuals are for.
its not my problem if you are too fucking lazy to read them

thank you :) thats exactly what i would have said, had you not said it. i have no problem fixing something, but when you start asking why. sometimes there is no answer.
just like he said, you wouldnt ask the mechanic how he fixed your car...so dont bother us. I took the time to learn this stuff. maybe you should do the same heh.

Does she call IT to teach her how to plug in a toaster? You don't don't have to be a "pompous IT guy" to know that electricity doesn't come out of thin air. How long would it have taken that lady to think about whether a cheap piece of plastic can really charge a cell phone? It's called common sense, not being a "device techie".

BTW, I'm not in IT but I do feel the need to defend the OP against some of the flaming in this thread. Seems like he's just venting about having stupid things like this taking time away from actual technical issues.

You're wrong. The 7290 was the best device RIM could offer. You could run that thing over with a car and it would still work (we tried). These new ones break if you drop them on a pillow.

Uh...he's talking about the stands there.
