If you want a serious response there was a local church who needed people who had skills in carpentry etc. They were rebuilding a town in Jamaica which was destroyed by weather. At the time I had sufficient resource to join so I did for two weeks. Everything, and I mean everything, was bought and paid for by those who went. These people were certainly Conservative in a traditional sense with a strong sense of nation and support of the Constitution. They were generally lower middle income and spent years saving for something like this. They do it every three years and each time it's a fortune for then.
Anyway I went and yes there was prayer and people talked of their faith, but they went to work and they did. We didn't sleep in a resort, people put us up in their modest homes. We ate their food and spoke to them, not a tour guide. I learned that virtually all outside help comes from people like this, who believe in "go and do likewise", which I posted about earlier. The work was half done, but in a couple weeks a new group from another denomination was doing the same thing and completed the job. There's a lot of this and it goes on all the time and you never hear of it.
People made a significant personal sacrifice by spending money, taking their vacations to do this and often unpaid time off to help those who could not help themselves. They didn't shove a bible down anyone's throat but they weren't ashamed of what they believe either. They believe that compassion isn't an option and if it's a matter of faith so what? They don't believe it's a get out of hell card to be played. It's something they do if they can.
Like liberals all conservatives aren't bad.
Heh a great example is after Katrina. Conservative church going people headed south to rebuild people's homes. Liberals sent FEMA trailers that got people sick.
