You totally stole my idea, except mine involved human-sized hamster wheels.

*scraps presidential campaign plans*

Can't we donate those in life and deathrow to doctors and scientists for experimentation? You gotta stop hurting and killing poor innocent rats and gerbils.

I always said we should make better use of the prisoners on death row and use them for really authentic movie stunts.

How about real gladiator battles? 16 go in, the winner goes free. 😛

PFL! Prison Fighting League. You could even charge a hefty price on pay per view to watch it, further increasing revenues.

good idea!

or let them be medical experiments. they survive the procedure they get out.

I see several problems:

-You have to pay the prisoners. What is their incentive to work if they don't get paid?

-The Labor unions would throw a fit.

Or we could just execute anyone with a prison term longer than 10 years. My way saves more money and fixes the overcrowding problem all at the same time. We only need one form of execution too just shoot them bullets are cheap drugs are expensive.

Make them work? Nah.

And if you were wrongly executed for a crime you didn't commit, your family gets chopped liver? 😕

Think it through, prison system is not just the physical restraint. Think about the legion of humans that work in the penal system. For the prisoners to make enough to pay for the system, they have to make 100K+. And as far as I know, prison ain't ATOT.

Eh should have gotten a better lawyer dont go cheap when your life is on the line.

all the prisons (long term, not jails) need to be closed, they are ineffective in their present format

 That's what barbaric rulers do.

They did that before, and it ain't pretty. Want to roll back to Roman gladiators? (see movie "Gladiator" (2000)

And "human hamster wheel" or "electricity generating bike" - cost of equipment and food (they will be more hungry than if just sitting on their butt) will be far more than they can produce in decades!

...because everyone has a few hundred thousand setting around to use for legal fees eh?

I think prisoners should be responsible for producing a certain percentage of what they consume. If it falls short, give them the basics but no extras. That is their incentive to work.

Don't want to work.
Fine, get oatmeal or rice only for every meal.

Simple solution...three birds, one stone.

I'm a genius. PM me for where to send any and all campaign contributions.

Is your life worth a few hundred thousand? If you want to not die you can be pretty creative just google "donation blog" and see what crap ppl donate for.

Fucking brilliant!!

edit: cost of equipment is still high though!

We should just throw them all on an island and let them fend for themselves. They might even develop their own accent.

well... euthanasia seems to be an interesting thing to ponder.

Execution is more expensive than keeping them in jail for life, b/c of all the legal fees with the appeal processes.

thats debatable. a study done by Louisiana i believe showed it was far cheaper for them to execute prisoners then keep them around for a life sentence.

I was thinking the same thing. Hungry? Grow your own crap.

Talk about useful skills for gang bangers to know!

No that what's the future is going to be like. See movie "Running Man".

I always thought they should have them run on special treadmills for a few hours a day to generate electricity 😀

EDIT: already mentioned I see

There's a work program at the Utah State Prison called Utah Correctional Industries. They make office furniture, license plates, and I also believe they have a print shop. It's a privilege for offenders to work in this program, and in some cases they can actually earn money, although I believe it's earmarked for restitution payments. I'm not sure if they sell to the public or just state agencies, but I don't think they would be able to cover even the cost of facilities let alone prison guard salaries and administrative overhead.
