Even smart people make dumb decisions. Personally I get a laugh that there are over 1500 religions, each of which thinks that they and only they have the answer, each of which insist that there is punishment waiting for those that don't believe in their particular version of reality.

A very good point, but if you are born in an under privileged area or if you are dropped on your head, or if you are not properly educated you might try to remove logic from your life by becoming religious, that's not the fault of the individual. We need to make fun of religions not religious people.

To quickly answer the OP, it's just a phase. Christians have been ostracizing or killing nonbelievers for centuries. Atheists are finally able to speak their mind without fear of death and it's a bit heady. Combine with the anonymity the internet affords and what you have is payback for over 1000 years of dominance. It'll probably tamp down in the coming decades somewhat.

hal: fair point, but there are plenty on here that claim to disreguard the thoughts/ideas of anyone that beleives in a god. I'm simply saying that just because they beleive in a god, that doesn't mean that they have no logic. It's usually the same handful of tards trying to reaffirm themselves, which if what they said about their own belief system was true, they wouldn't have the insatiable need to keep doing.
