Why aren't Americans interested in immigrating to Mexico instead of Canada?

You know who you'll see a lot of in Mexico?

Canadians.

Usually on vacation resorts. They sometimes go back to Canada after a week assuming they don't get killed.

Mexico resorts are a great vacation destination to take a break from the January/February weather but once you venture off the resorts it can be sketchy.

I can see Mexico's travel board advertisement at March break.

"Come to beautiful Mexico! It's safer than Syria!"

I would say most would choose Canada because they mostly speak English there, and they have poutine, and they assume the healthcare system there is better than ours.

Speaking of healthcare, as unperfect as Obama care is, if Trump really does rip it out that is going to screw over so many people.

I don't get why the states don't just go to a system like we have and call it a day. Stop screwing around. People should not have to worry about the financial aspect of their health. I did not realize this, but in the states most health care insurance is through the employer, that means if you are running a company you're on the hook for that, or if you are unemployed or run a small business, you are also on the hook for it. As a doctor you also have to deal with all these different insurance companies instead of just the government. They also don't fully cover everything so if you get something major like cancer you still most likely have to sell your house and live off the streets or in some crappy apartment. The whole thing just sounds like a huge mess.

Hell, the last 2 times I was in Mexico, I saw a couple people beat to hell with blood stained clothes lying in the ditch alongside the road.

Canadians practice a completely zoned out, could give a F++k attitude of practical indifference . Don't want no foreigners to mess up our constitutional right not to give a crap about anything but hockey.

Query: Is not giving a crap about anything but hockey intentional or are you just telling yourselves that because there's nothing except hockey available to give a crap about?

You know USA spends the most per capita on healthcare yet has craply result right? It is getting better, I haven't read the 2016 OECD Health report yet, you should though. Then you may change your mind about singler payer system.

I am not saying Canada's system is perfect, but US system is not sustainable.

Yeah I don't get why the US is so scared of single payer healthcare or socialism. They use the word socialism like it's a really bad thing. Too much of it is financially unsustainable, but things like healthcare definitely SHOULD be socialized. you should not have to worry about finances when it comes to health.

In fact I think dental and eye care should be part of our healthcare system too. Same with medications.

There is talk about medicine being incorporated but given the current economy, it is not happening.

The point is that travel through the vast majority of either country is unlikely to be dangerous and not at all like war torn Syria.
Except those first 100 miles tho.

You don't know what you're talking about is all..

Naivete.

Randomly clicked one of the states in the first 100 miles

Chihuahua: Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua City, and Copper Canyon are major cities/travel destinations in Chihuahua - Exercise caution in traveling to: the business and shopping districts in the northeast section of Ciudad Juarez and its major industrial parks, the central downtown section and major industrial parks in the city of Chihuahua, the town of Palomas, the urban area of the city of Ojinaga, and the towns of Nuevo Casas Grandes and Casas Grandes and their immediate environs. Travel to the Nuevo Casas Grandes area should be through the Palomas port of entry (POE) on U.S. Highway 11, continuing south until reaching Mexico Highway 2 west to Nuevo Casas Grandes. Travel to Ojinaga should be on the U.S. side via U.S. Highway 67 through the Presidio POE. Defer non-essential travel to other areas in the state of Chihuahua and travel between cities only on major highways and only during daylight hours. Crime and violence remain serious problems throughout the state of Chihuahua, particularly in the southern portion of the state and in the Sierra Mountains, including Copper Canyon.

Sonora: Nogales, Puerto Peñasco, Hermosillo, and San Carlos are major cities/travel destinations in Sonora - Sonora is a key region in the international drug and human trafficking trades and can be extremely dangerous for travelers. Travelers throughout Sonora are encouraged to limit travel to main roads during daylight hours. Defer non-essential travel to the region west of Nogales, east of Sonoyta, and from Caborca north (including the towns of Saric, Tubutama, and Altar), and the eastern edge of Sonora bordering Chihuahua, as these are known centers of illegal activity. Travelers should also defer non-essential travel to the eastern edge of the state of Sonora, which borders the state of Chihuahua (all points along that border east of the northern city of Agua Prieta and the southern town of Alamos), and defer non-essential travel within the city of Ciudad Obregon and south of the city of Navojoa. You should exercise caution while transiting Vicam in southern Sonora due to roadblocks that can be instituted ad hoc by local indigenous and environmental groups. U.S. citizens visiting Puerto Peñasco should use the Lukeville, Arizona/Sonoyta, Sonora border crossing, and limit driving to daylight hours. Please see above for general conditions for travel in Mexico.

Yea man go there.

Well Mexico is kinda a shithole for the average citizen, but as a rich ex-pat I'd rather live there than Canada. My money would go way further and the weather is a hell of a lot better.

If I'm surrounded by particles in the air I'd rather have snowflakes than bullets.

After a while the lack of rules in a third world country can wear you down and you will really appreciate how well everyone back home drives and how good the roads and the general infrastructure is at home
