You know who you'll see a lot of in Mexico?

Canadians.

Usually on vacation resorts. They sometimes go back to Canada after a week assuming they don't get killed.

Mexico resorts are a great vacation destination to take a break from the January/February weather but once you venture off the resorts it can be sketchy.

I would say most would choose Canada because they mostly speak English there, and they have poutine, and they assume the healthcare system there is better than ours.

I don't get why the states don't just go to a system like we have and call it a day. Stop screwing around. People should not have to worry about the financial aspect of their health. I did not realize this, but in the states most health care insurance is through the employer, that means if you are running a company you're on the hook for that, or if you are unemployed or run a small business, you are also on the hook for it. As a doctor you also have to deal with all these different insurance companies instead of just the government. They also don't fully cover everything so if you get something major like cancer you still most likely have to sell your house and live off the streets or in some crappy apartment. The whole thing just sounds like a huge mess.

You know USA spends the most per capita on healthcare yet has craply result right? It is getting better, I haven't read the 2016 OECD Health report yet, you should though. Then you may change your mind about singler payer system.

Yeah I don't get why the US is so scared of single payer healthcare or socialism. They use the word socialism like it's a really bad thing. Too much of it is financially unsustainable, but things like healthcare definitely SHOULD be socialized. you should not have to worry about finances when it comes to health.

In fact I think dental and eye care should be part of our healthcare system too. Same with medications.

While stuff like that happens, it's still super rare compared to Mexico. Cross the wrong person in Mexico and you become some collateral for the drug cartels.

The stuff on shows like Sons of Anarchy and Breaking Bad is actually ridiculously tame compared to what happens in real life.
