Why are Texans So Proud to be from Texas?

I've been watching King of the Hill and recently the second season of Survivor and both have people who are very proud to be texans(although Hank finds out he wasn't born there).

So why is it?

Because our great president is from Texas, duh.

They really have their own culture. It's the same as if an ethnic group has pride in heir homeland/culture.

It's innate to feel pride for living in Texas. You have to be one to understand.

yup, exactly.

and we don't hump sheep like people that live in topeka, kansas.

You get it on with steers, instead. Everythings gotta be bigger in Texas, right?

But remember, King of the Hill is making fun of that. A bunch of hicks standing in an alley drinking beer while trying to convince themselves they're somehow superior. We're not laughing with them, we're laughing at them. A Texan feeling that he's on top of the heap is the same as somebody from Arkansas, West Virginia or Tennessee feeling the same way, it's just plain sad.

Same reason most Americans think the USA is the best country in the world. It's not based on logic, it's based on the fact that they live there. If Texans live in Texas, of course they are going to say it's the best. It doesn't happen like that in other states because other states don't so much have their own culture.

Why is Texas so windy?

Because Oklahoma blows.

<--- comes from a proud line of Texans, though I've lived in Seattle all my life.

Cause they are stupid.

So i guess you're ashame of your home state then? Pity.

why, because hes not some loudmouthed jackass talking about how kansas is the best state in the union?

You too huh? Pity.

I'm not all that proud of being from Kansas. Its a uber-conservative state full of rednecks and hicks. I dislike it. The only thing I take real pride in is A) Our BBQ, B) Kansas State/Kansas/Washburn Athletics, C) Kansas City Chiefs/Royals (which both reside in MO, but KC is in both states), and D) The fact that we aren't Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Misery, or Nebraska.

It's hard to explain.

Texas was it's own country for a while, it's sort of like the sepratists attitude in Canada, only we can't speak French, or spell or anything😀
