I'll tell you something thoug, I live in texas, and the farther I go from the border:

The more doors start to hit you in the face
The more people buzz by you instead of stopping to help you
The less people say please and thank you
The weird looks you get from giving a complete stranger a courteous smile and a nice hello

It may seem strange but these things make Texas what texas is. Other parts of the US may have some beautiful sites, and the occasional nice person, but it isn't the same. I am proud to be from Texas, and I know a lot of places people don't like americans, but they seem to like Texans.

I've been watching King of the Hill and recently the second season of Survivor and both have people who are very proud to be texans(although Hank finds out he wasn't born there).

So why is it?

Because our great president is from Texas, duh.

wrong! try again!

it is because of freaking brain damage, inbreeding, staying in the sun too long, and too much sex with queer steers!

Because Shiner is only sold in Texas. Duh.

That's not true. It goes as far north as Missouri.
No, I regularly get Blonde and Bock at the corner store across from my apartment.

Ok, I just took another look at the map, and I guess since Nebraska is farther north than Missouri, Nebraska would be it. But the closest I can get it is in Missouri. (All according to the Shiner site).
That's crazy. You'd think they'd know where there beer was going, because you can get it at lots of stores in NYC and at several bars I've been to as well! But it's not listed as being available here. Weird.

I'd imagine that there's lots of specialty places that get beer from all over and aren't in their normal supply lines. There's a place here in Chicago that has so many different kinds of beer it's not funny (although, coincidentally, not Shiner (though they do have Lone Star)).
