For me, it's not my identity being stolen, as much as I've ranted about my employer. I'm less likely to get fired if my employer isn't directly identified.

I can recount more than a few stories where not only AT members (like Eakers and guy who was fired from his job for posting Black Friday ads), but other people online who have unintentionally drawn problems by revealing their personal info.

The key here is to not do anything online you wouldn't do in in "real" life. If you assume from the beginning that everything you do online IS real you won't have any surprises.

I think anyone can be victimized, especially female, as Eakers has proven. I was genuinely worried for TallBill, who knows what psycho may have seen his fiance and found out he lived nearby. Now he has her pic, full name and address. Do you see the problem? Would you post your SO's full name, picture, and address online? I know many here would not feel comfortable doing that, I know I sure wouldn't. This is aside from any identity theft implications (they are rare, but do happen).

Its called.. a phone book.. and the article... was... already... posted.. online.. I'll speak slowly so I dont have to repeat myself again. I guess all newspapers and media should never ever report any information about anyone. George Bush lives in the white house, and I know what he looks like, and nobody has raped him yet.

And of course I dont have your real info. Your a ninja. But you dont have mine either! Or my fiances, so you wont take my bet either.

I never claimed to have your info. You claimed to have mine. Hence, your bet = invalid. Logic isn't your forte, is it? I have your real name, pic, and the town you will be living in. I also have your fiancee's. Not that I would try to do anything , I promise.

Way to pimp your fiancee's personal info on the net, I'm sure she (and many pimple farmers) appreciates it.

Lol, but your still stupid. Knowing where we live isn't a big deal. I'd be far more concerned about the thousands of people that her and I pass daily who live nearby and actually interact with us. Anyone that can pick up a newspaper or do a little searching online could have found the same info if they really wanted, but it all leads back to it not mattering. And I guess my mom is in grave danger because she owns a website attached to her business with all kinds of information and pictures. You just make no sense. And if your whacking off to a fuzzy picture of me and my fiance that only shows our faces, I think you have social problems.

I do want to thank you for giving me a laugh when things are so boring here.

I think it's probably just habit to not throw out your personal information, however benign. Plus some thrive on the anonymity on the net

yeah, most of these e-thugs talk so much crap on the net that they hide behind anonymous usernames just in case anyone they pissed off ever comes across them irl. they wouldn't want to have to deal with getting smacked around like the little punks they are.

I figure idenity theives are alot like car theives, you leave your car unlocked and someone will steal it. But If the thief is determined enough no amount of security systems are going to stop them.

you do realize the clerk at the grocery store who reads the name on your bank card could just as easily steal your identity if all that was needed was a last night right? now if you posted your SS# or something you might need to worry.

are you serious? do you live in this world or some other? so should his fiancee never leave the house? i mean she could walk down the street and some crazy person could decide to pay her a visit. you have crazy logic. i think it's time to depart the paranoia train before it's too late.

Your = you're btw. "Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience."

Still waiting on the info you claim to have found on me from Google. The $50 is still in escrow.

I already said a few times that I dont know yours, and you dont know mine. But if you did it wouldn't matter. I thought that this was the point of the whole thread? Great googily moogily. Your a hoot.

your email address alone gives out quite a bit of info about you rob. just fyi.
Yup, it's an old email addy from my alma mater. I graduated in 2001 btw.

regardless, you were once affliated with the school. so chances are they have some record of where you live now unless you've completely cut ties. but since you still have the email address you might still donate or whatever. if someone really wanted to find you they have a last name, a first initial and a starting point.

you should really change that or hide it before your identity gets jacked.

btw, what a great year for boston sports fans eh?

No but I love it when people keep using the phrase "your a moron" and "your stupid" over and over. It's just hilarious.

I do it in real life, so why not online too?

I'm talking about the irony of spelling it "your" while trying to call someone a moron, not the fact that you called him a moron.

To each their own. Some people that visit these forums realize the security they have from being an unknown. I know posting a thread like this one practically invites someone to find out the info on your girlfriend and just call and say, "Tell TallBill I said hi." While it's one thing for you to deal with that, it's another for your girlfriend. I mean, if you said to her "It's just some guy that probably is trying to piss me off", and meanwhile this guy is harassing her because he knows that she has absolutely no idea who it is and it's genuinely scaring her, I'd say it's a big deal.

I remember the OP from a thread a few years ago ("Girl... so... hot...") got a call from someone on the forums to urge him to take pics of the girl next to him. I'd prefer not to deal with stupid stuff like that.

Bill, your credibility takes a beating when you have the spelling level of a 6th grader.
It's spelled "your grammar".

Are you really having that much trouble with "your" and "you're"? Please seek a remedial English course.
