Here's a new question - are "sling bags" feminine? Sling bags being the type of back packs that have a single strap that goes across your chest.

I've always been tempted to try one out to see if they're comfortable, but I don't want to blow $40+ on something that may get shelved after two uses.

100% yes.

I've never really seen the appeal to them versus a straight up backpack or messenger bag unless you want to carry something that feels like a purse but is more comfortable to wear in active situations.

I have a Timbuk2 messenger bag for work, it's easier to carry around than regular backpacks and I can reach into it easily. But I would never carry it while walking around. Mens fashion nowawadays allows for plenty of pocket space to carry the necessities.

after about 3 years of business travel, i've come to the conclusion that messenger bags, aka man bags aka satchels are extremely convenient in carrying all your stuff without filling up your pockets or carrying around a bulky backpack.

when i'm at home i get crap from my friends for using it, why?

on top of that, they look pretty fashionable and fabulous;)... discuss?

Gay looking messenger bags are gay. The 'problem' if there is one is that a lot of guys pick messenger bags that look gay.

Over in my neck of the woods, the truly gay hipsters carry handbags in the crook of their arm.

Here's the thing. If you weigh down the messenger bag with a lot of weight, won't it throw off your gait and possibly lead to physiological problems after prolonged use? A backpack keeps everything centered and probably would be more comfortable over the long run.

Absolutely yes. It's why I hate loading it up, not only is it uncomfortable, but every time I walk past a window, I can see that my body is completely shifted to one side to counterbalance the bag. The effect is a lot less if you put the strap across your chest, but then you can't breath...

The "gayness" factor is usually amped up when the bag is made with a glossy leather material and the straps/buttons are fancy.

Backpacks are amazing, but you look very "non-retarded" wearing one in anything but t-shirt and jeans.

Yea, I really like their stuff. It's pretty spendy is the only problem. It costs so much, you don't like wearing work stuff to work :^D

If you're secure in your masculinity, you shouldn't give a shit what other people think about your bag choice.

That being said, I prefer backpacks to messenger bags for most things. I kind of wish I had a messenger bag for the summer though since they're a little cooler on my back.

My bro has a nice backpack with a mesh back, then a curved frame that spaces the actual pack away from your back to allow airflow.

Do you happen to know the name of it? I'm not in need of a backpack now, but it would be nice to have in mind for the future.

since at least a few of you seem to enjoy the overpriced leathery shit, check out this website, went to high school with this guy

www.killspencer.com

Not bad, but these ones are HOT:

Very nice leather color. Not shiny, close to canvas color. Doesn't overdo it. Hot.

So much going on, yet it's just one big mess that works well together.
