They are 2% of the population but yet they own over 50% of America's wealth. That is amazing! When I read that Steve Ballmer and a few other investors were in discussions to buy the Clippers I noticed that they are all Jewish. Most of today's top entrepreneurs are Jewish. Google, Facebook, Starbucks. All started by people whose religion is Jewish.

Obviously not all Jewish people are wealthy. I know it's not good to stereotype people. I find it remarkable that a culture that only represents 2% of the American population can have such a huge impact.

What are they doing differently that the majority of Americans aren't doing?

*Do they have a greater sense of community?
*Do they value education more than most cultures?
*Do they have a certain toughness that comes from being persecuted for centuries?
*Are they better at finances than most people?
*Are they really the chosen ones?

So what is it?

Unless they had some troubling mental issues I would seriously doubt it.

Not saying there aren't any homeless Jewish people. The numbers are probably very small.

They have a greater sense of community than we do. They stick together and help each other out.

That's a myth. The same is said with the American media as well.

I worked with a coworker who was big on Jewish conspiracies. He talked about the Rothschild's all the time. I was starting to believe his crap so I stopped talking to him.

your friend sounds like a stupid person because jews dont control the fed. in fact, jews were against central banking back in the old republic (i.e., before the Counterrevolution).

People believe that crap because they are insecure and they are jealous.

Why are their IQ levels higher? Genetics? Years of persecution? They value education?

Two main reasons:

1) They work hard in school and enter profitable fields (finance, law, medicine). Parents make sure their kids to do really well and guide them in the right direction.

2) They are a very insular/ethnocentric people and help each other out. They have a strong networking community. When one Jew makes it, he/she helps out others. Jewish nepotism is notorious in places like Hollywood, Wall Street, and the Ivy League. Jews in finance, for instance, give economic assistance (loans, investments, etc) to other Jewish entrepreneurs.

For every successful jew in the usa there are more than one who is just average or not so successful.

However, i will say this and it is a generalisation. To most Jewish parents, the most important thing they can give their child is an education. Education equals choices and opportunity, whether or not that child takes that education and runs with it is another story.

If you then ask, why is education so important to jewish parents, you only have to look at jewish history. In many countries where jews lived throughout history they were not allowed to go to that countries schools... were not permitted to have an education. Consequently, when jews then arrived in countries where they could attend schools they took full advantage and were taught not to take that education for granted.

Whilst education doesnt guarantee success, it certainly does make the path to success easier.

Most Jews in America (and in Europe) are successful because they stick together and help each other. They follow what the Torah says,that is to help their brothers. Another trait of the Jews is they are highly intelligent. Most Jews are outstanding in finance, show business, arts, and even sports.

i am guessing it is because they are a different species or subspecies than most other people are and because that subspecies was the one favored by the supreme being.

the alpine/celtic/neanderthal race (based upon mtDNA) which jews, anglo-irish, scots-irish, and huguenots/waldensians were of was simply more successful economically than the dolichocephalic race that the roman catholic majority was (mtDNA haplogroup H).
 
I think Hitler killed all the poor and stupid jews, they couldn't afford to leave Germany or didn't know they should. The ones that survived hoarded all the money (naturally 😉) Kinda like evolution in a way. Evolution of brains and of business practices.

Btw, I don't think they would look so successful if such a small country like Israel (3 million population) didn't get 5 billion a year from the U.S. Taxpayer.

8 million, and that 5 billion is actually a tiny amount compared to our yearly budget. (And everyone would be happy to not need it - the army is currently getting flak for wasting so much money).

As for the OP, it is mainly a cultural thing, IMO. When you're normally the underdog wherever you go, you strive for the best and help your fellow people in times of need.
 
I have a theory. Jewish people have been discriminated against for hundreds, if not thousands of years. They also have a strong sense of community. This has forced them to avoid the general workforce and create their own businesses, which fosters are sense of independence. You don't become successful working for someone else. Same thing with Asians.

Their poor treatment by society has partially led to their success in business, which has transferred to other areas over the generations.

They took the path less traveled because they were forced to and it has made them successful.

I'm not Jewish BTW, just telling it like it is. I admire the Jews for their sense of independence and overcoming obstacles.

Jews have overcome discrimination and hardship and have risen out of poverty in the last 2 centuries. Open a history book.

"Inheritance" is not a valid argument. Every family started somewhere. No one has been wealthy since the stone age. Someone made a bold move. Poor people love to use a lack of inheritance as a excuse as to why they're not wealthy.
