Why Are Cigarette Smokers So Rude?

I know that they know that the non smoking people find it repulsive. It seems they could care less and it is their God given right to invade my space with that disgusting habit of yours. Whether it's walking into a store and having smoke blown in your face, lighting up in your car or home, or stinking up work areas with that crap, etc. I don't even like walking by your smelly ass.

ooh this ought to be good. :whiste:

I love having someone toss one out of a car in front of you and the nice refreshing breeze they blew out gets sucked into your car ventilation system as you then drive through it. Mainly at traffic lights. Pretty bad they just littered and smelled up your car with CLOSED windows.

this would all be solved if they made cigarette smoke pleasant smelling or if they just stopped making cigarettes...

After a while of people walking by 20 feet away from you looking at you like you're a dirty hobo and fake-coughing, you stop feeling bad about what people think.

though i completely agree that tossing lit cigarettes out car windows in severely douchey, you must be one unlucky bastard to manage to get them sucked in your car's cowl. never experienced that, and am not sure how that's even possible.

oh, and technically if the cigarette went into your car without hitting the ground, i don't think they littered. :awe:

I dearly love that one cartoon drawing of a very cold day with a group of people huddled together near a back door of a building.. little girl asks her mother, are those homeless people? I feel so sorry for them.. 'no honey they are just smokers'.

I don't smoke and have zero problems with other people smoking outside or in their own homes/properties. It's none of my business if they smoke or not.

Just as I respect people's right to smoke I also respect property/business owners right to ban it on their property. I hear smokers gripe about this a lot.

I guessing since I'm not a rude smoker, but perhaps because people like you tell them they can't even smoke in their own property. Also because non-smokers treat them like trash.

Just guessing...

I'm talking about the last cloud of smoke that gets blown out the window and you drive right into it when traffic starts moving (fresh air intake below the windshield). Happens every so often. Usually not a whole lot but enough to know what you just breathed in.

Sitting at a red light with there car in front of you and they are smoking and the AC starts bringing in the smell. Time to turn off the outside vents. At the end of the day I try to grin and bear it. Visited my sister a couple of weeks ago who smokes and we spent a couple of hours talking to her inside her place while she smoked. When the wife and I left our clothers smelled of nasty smoke. When we got home we even had to wash our jackets they smelled so bad.

I believe he means smokers who light up in his home/property/car without asking.

That is rude lighting up in your car our home without asking. I know when my sister comes over and she smokes she would go outside in the backyard. I would have no problem asking them not to smoke in my car our house and they refuse telling them to leave.

Well that makes sense, and is a pretty D-bag move. Who the hell lights up in someone's house w/o asking these days...?

I'm of the opinion that you should be able to do whatever you want to your own body but I don't really care for the constant littering that I always see smokers engage in. I work in a very high stress field and I constantly see huge groups of people smoking and then just tossing their butts on the ground when not even a foot away is a cigarette collector.

Obviously all smokers are different but that kind behavior seems pretty standard from what I've observed.

Yea, that totally ruins the exhaust experience for me. I just sit there and pray that a diesel with their robust aroma will come by to overpower the cigarette smell....

It may not be illegal in a lot of places to smoke inside, but it is severely frowned upon in most. I remember travelling through the Carolinas and being completely baffled to see people smoking inside a grocery store/gas station - and I'm from AL. Overall though, smokers who are that inconsiderate about their smoking habit are generally just as rude in other areas of life.

Get over it. Our air is so fucked anyway.

Don't get me wrong, I HATE second hand smoke, but growing up in a city I realize that the air I inhale on a regular basis is so bad as it is, that it just doesn't even matter.

Stop hanging around asshole people?

Most of the smokers I know of are actually quite pleasant and ask if it is ok to smoke. Hell, they even ask when I'm in their home/car if I mind before they do. I haven't met the stereotypical asshole smoker in years.

Actually, its the rabid anti-smoking people who are complete assholes these days. I've seen people call someone who was smoking a murderer and all sorts of other crazy shit.

As for public places. Most people don't seem to understand what constitutes a public place. A store, business, or bar is not a public place.

I know, I hate that too. I have my windows rolled up in the winter, and I can still smell the smoke from someones car in front of me, when they have the windows rolled slightly down driving down the highway. I can smell it more-so when we're at a light...disgusting.

And the people at work who smoke STINK a lot....they are always dry heaving too.
