You could also use Mac OS X with your CLI knowledge. That was his point if I am correct. Meaning, OS X is easy to use if you want it to be, but it can also be highly adaptable to the needs of more advanced users (X11/Terminal) without any extra downloads/install necessary (unlike Windows).
I'm not arguing that OS X doesn't have a powerful command line, just refuting the argument that Windows doesn't have that capability. And if a simple extra download or two is enough to bother you then I'm guessing you're not enough of a power user to care about CLI.

Even as a hater that has to hate, this is silly. I have never seen Anand as a fanboi of Apple.

I'm just curious, because a lot of the articles mention that Anand in particular apparently uses all Apple stuff for his computer and phone.

What's the low-down? Just prefer Apple products or is there something that is better done on the Apple, or any other reason?

Been a member since Nov 2009 and haas the balls to question anything our fearless leader does....rofl....

I like these three reasons.

The other ones espoused in this thread, are fairly unconvincing.

What about the reasons espoused by the links in my post from earlier, where I link to articles by Anand about his use of Macs?

Psst, Anand may be using Boot Camp or Parallels to (gasp!) RUN WINDOWS PROGRAMS!!!!

Even my wife is running convergence of Windows 7 ultimate and Snow Leopard. Mostly just MS Office in Win 7. I hear the latest mac version though is more windows friendly.

Why would anyone call Anand an Apple fanboy? He was strictly x86 for years and years and only got into Macs relatively recently. If he enjoys Apple products why should anyone care? He's not forcing you to use one.

I don't care for Apple products either; don't own a single one, never have, and don't plan to in the future. I've used them many times, starting in the mid 80s. They just aren't my thing. Doesn't make me an Apple anti-fanboy anymore than is makes Anand a fanboy.

If you used to an Atheist but are now Catholic, does that really matter at all?

That's retarded. I bet I could BASH circles around your candy ass and I use Windows for almost anything. Cygwin + PuTTy motherfucker.

But downloading a ton of extra software to make Windows do shit in a CLI (not as well mind you) like OSX can do natively isn't retarded? LOL the logic on ATOT is outstanding as usual. That's like me saying OSX is as good for gaming because I can run many PC games in OSX using Crossover. OSX isn't good for PC gaming though, just like Windows even with Cygwin + PuTTy isn't that good for CLI. Well, you have fun with Cygwin on your PC and I'll have fun playing L4D2 on OSX.

Agreed. He does seem to generally like the apple products he has used, but nothing on the level of fanboyism.

Oh, I mean : RAWR I DONT LIKE MAC AND DONT LIKE OTHERS WHO DONT.

Why would it be retarded? You know what WOULD be retarded? Owning Windows and buying OSX just for 1 app when all you have to do is download (in your words) that TON of software. Yeah a TON. It really weighs that much. You're gonna be putting that crane you have parked next to your Lambo to use after all.

Cygwin is not even close to OS X in terms of getting a good CLI. There's so many work-arounds and concessions you have to make (like /cygdrive/c) that it's not the same experience at all.

OS X + Macports is best of both worlds.
