Politicians only look out for themselves. If they ever tried to push a bill like this in a state where it actually mattered (Cali or NY for example), not only would it get shot down, they would never see another term in office.

I really don't see how these grown college students can start cussing at each other over something that should not be an issue. THEY are the ones that make it an issue. Can't they just live life simple, and worry about better things? It is just disappointing to me to see people like that. (i'm asian)

I wouldn't deport anyone who could prove they worked for around ~2years and were not living off government programs.

They are here and do contribute to our current economy. I would however do whatever it takes to minimize the amount of future illegals.

Yes I would deport them. They're illegal, therefore they've gotta go. Make an exception for one person, and it starts a landslide.

The problem is that we don't have a national language. I agree that it should be English, but you can't force anyone to speak a language if there isn't a standard.

Legal immigration is and has been healthy for the economy and should continue. In fact, the post-9/11 restrictions on legal immigrations are hurting the country, as we are no longer able to combine our domestic talent and expertise along with the so-called "first-round draft picks" of the rest of the world. Our curtailing of legal immigration is actualy a factor contributing to outsourcing, as countries with less "brain-drain" like India and China are more appealing to companies looking to globalize.

Illegal immigration ain't cool. If for no other reason than you have lawbreaking activity being tolerated (and in some cases even condoned).

One of my first jobs was as a drywall installer. Try to get a job on a drywall or insulation crew around here.

The whole "jobs we don't want" is BS.

They devalue wages.

They are a drain on the schools. My daughters kindergarten class was split into two groups because almost half the kids couldn't speak english.

I could go on and on but I would just be called a bigot even though I'm all for larger legal immigration.

I agree and I will also just stop now before the trolls with no constructive input just label me a bigot and a racist as that is their only weapon because facts and data elude them.

I don't think many people will call you a racist for being anti-illegal immigration. It's the bitter, epithet-filled rants that many anti-II folks use to accompany their views that get them branded as racist.

I Live in CA, and my parents live near San Diego...and man everyone down there is an illegal imigrant pretty much...lat year i ran into some BS that makes me not respect immigrants...

I go into a jack in the box near ocean side (everything spanish, all of them live there) and the woman at the counter (its slow so there is only one) speaks spanish right away and asks me what i want to order as i come to the counter. I answer in english (even though i took spanish in HS and college i was tired and did not feel like using it since its been a while), i pretty much asked her for a sour sough sandwhich with just the chicken and now toppings ect...she did not understand one word i said, and when she asked what the hell i said in spanish i repeated again in english, and still no dice....then get this she starts getting mad at me becuase i do not speak her laungage and its my fault that i cannot order...i talk to the manager who is also mexican and he explains that they usually get spanish speaking customers so thats why its like that, and i should have know this... it was all pretty much BS and got me really upset...so i cursed em in spanish and left, not something i woanted to put up with after a long day at work.....


and thats ONE of the many reasons i hate immigrants, ones that are not eager (like many of them are) to become a quality member of an ****AMERICAN***** society, and not one of their own.......


and of course there is always them sending our money back to their own famlies in other countries but thats a whole 'nother topic...

Wow... just wow. Proof right here that there is a point where being naive crosses the line to stupidity. You just crossed it with an Olympic record long jump. So... let me ask you ('cause I just got to know), do you think the Jews had it coming from the Nazis? I mean, if nationalism and racism only exist as reactionary forces, then they must have right? But of course, they didn't, which is just one of the MANY ways how you are wrong.

My point (in pointing out the OP's strawman) is that the US is a VERY diverse country, and very accepting of legal immigration. More so that perhaps any other nation. Illegal immigration, however, is not only just a crime but a serious and real security threat to our country. If these illegal immigrants wish to jump the hoops and enter our country legally (like roughly a million people do every year), then we will happily accept them. Until then, they are criminals and not welcome. Not because we don't accept their diversity, but because we don't accept their flagrant disrespect for our laws, especially laws designed for our own security. Is that clear?
