Why are Americans so fearful of immigrants?

Good, you give them your job then, but remember the majority ain't going to pay taxes, obey the laws, but still get to pay your taxes (remember you are now unemployed) so they can go the ER when they get sick for their free heath care, and you will also pay to educate their kids.

They ain't spending their money in your town, beyon the necessities, cause they send the rest back to mexico or where ever the rest of the family is. Embrace them, perhaps they will feed you.

I don't buy the arguement that they take jobs americans don't want. Rather what they do is take jobs americans do want, then do them for a fraction of the cost, drive wages down, then americans don't want them!

Case in point. I know a guy who used to work in a meat packing plant. Back in the 80s they paid $19 an hour. After a flood illegal immigrants started taking up the jobs, it drove the wages down, now that exact same plant that used to pay 19 and hour now pays $7.50 an hour.

Also, how much SS, medicare, and other taxes do illegals pay? ZIPPO, because they are under the table. However they expect to use our resources, education, healthcare, etc... but not pay into the system.

I think every employer who hires an illegal worker should have to foot 100% of the medical costs for that person if they go to the hospital.

I'll say, I've got a friend who has been trying to start up his own lawn-care business in our Illinois hometown, and he's learning very quickly what it's like trying to compete with the Mexican immigrants. When there is a potential job with bidding, the immigrants bid rediculously low, at what amounts to ~$2/hr, and that's not a typo...

here's my take: i don't have anything against immigrants from a race or cultural perspective. but i do have a thing about overpopulation, and i think that both immigration and "native" births should be limited to no more than maintain our population, and hopefully decrease it. everyone with an IQ high enough to work their dick thinks they are god's gift to the gene pool. nothing disgusts me more than some fatass american (whether white, latino, asian, black, etc) family with 3+ kids in tow. stop breeding, people.

Illegal immigrants don't use up as much of the government funds as you might think.

How many immigrants would willingly go to a hospital for anything other an outright life threatening injury/problem? Even though hospitals are mandated to help those with serious injuries, an illegal immigrant's not likely to "turn themselves in" in fear of deportation.

Welfare is not collected by all immigrants, as you might think. In the agricultural industry (highest group of immigrants), only 2% of them were on aid, compared to 23% of the legal migrants. I would think this follows similarly throughout the cities.

And to think of all their contributions to society in the form of tax. We might not need them, but they're not hurting our society by any means.

LEGAL immigrants are fine. bring them in. as many as want to come if they have skills or work ethic. open (legal) immigration is something i support. it isn't like 99% of our ancestors weren't immigrants

i don't like criminals and entering the country without following the LEGAL process is a criminal act that should be punished as a felony

we could setup prison factories like they have in China to make walmart stuff and populate the prison factories with people entering the country illegally. keep them there for 5 years, then deport them back to thier country of origin

So what happens then? Many blueberry farms or whatever either start to pay more of they go out of business. As they go out of business, the blueberry supply dwindles and the prices rise. There will be some markets who *have* to have blueberries, so they will buy them at whatever the cost. Since blueberries cost so much now, the remaining farms can afford to pay pickers a higher salary, thus attracting *legal* employees.

What's the problem again?

that is the biggest crock...

who was doing these jobs before the illegals came over and took them?

High School Students, College Students, LEGAL ppl without any other job skills, ppl looking for a second part time job...etc...

then the illegals came and took the jobs for less money and big business is trying to snow everyone into thinking that these are supposed to be less than minimum wage jobs...it is a scam. and ppl eat it up... and the longer this crap goes on.... the more ppl will think these jobs will have no value. Then if our spinless government ever gets the ballz to do something about illegals, the jobs will pay really low, and biz will cry that they cannot make it.

illegals need to be shipped home, the jobs need to be paid what they should be paid, and then there will be approx $18billion a year more in our economy that is now being pumped into Mexico.

edit: and it is not just farm picking and landscaping. It is construction. Hotel work. Restaurant work. and just about all blue collar work now.
