Figured out how to duplicate items, so I built a tower out of gold blocks. Looks pretty ugly so I'll probably tear it down sometime, but it was a good waste of time.

Ya I wasn't using that. I'm not sure if I could duplicate because of some glitch or because of lag, but it's pretty easy. You just open a chest, and then take the item you want to duplicate, and move it to the chest and then quickly move it back. If I did it right and was fast enough, the item would remain in the chest for a split second, and I could grab it and move it to my inventory. It can all be done in the chest, but I found I lost items more often that way.
 
Logged in for the first time and didn't have much fun because everyone kept telling me to warp to places which were near-bottomless unlit pits. All I wanted to know was where a good place to start building was and instead got fed a bowl of dicks. Are these all ATOT people on? Or is it just random folks?

I think a bunch of users were moody because of some events the past day. Sort of bad timing. Something about lava glitching and burning up a bunch of stuff.

As for users, ther are some ATOT, some from a place called Giant Bomb along with some other friends/randoms.
 
Hope my house of penis hasn't been destroyed... still trying to get it erect... takes a lot of stone... i wish i could change it just to glass, but i doubt i could get enough glass to do that.

It's probably a better idea to run around and explore a bit on your own before warping around to random places. Exploring and finding stuff is one of the funnest parts of the game imho.

Well I didn't want to build in someone else's sandbox, so I was just looking for guidance on where to start my own mine.

Pick a direction, keep going until you don't see any more man-made stuff, and start digging.

You may run into someone else's mine deep underground but that's a fact of life on well-populated servers.
 
Lots of stealing going on,Krakn i'm your neighbor at the fishing place.
Someone found my chest and stole most of my items.

Yeah all my iron was stolen, but I keep Diamond and Gold on me (just incase). Of course that is now gone too due to the server issues. Oh well, I might come back and try to mine enough gold to make a new suit of golden armor.

Completely kidding, I have not taken anything from anyone's chests. I actually keep forgetting to drop stuff back into the spawn chests. I have a bunch of extra workbenches and smelters and about a chest and a half of dirt and cobblestone that I wouldn't mind getting rid of.

You could always hide your chest by placing it in the ground and covering it with another block. There are probably a number of ways to disguise its location.
