When I came into the server I looked in the chest right next to the spawn point and grabbed a couple of pickaxes, a shovel, a workbench, a smelter and a 64block of cobblestone.

Past that, I didn't take nothin' from nobody. Once I get my operations started I figured I would head back and drop some stuff off, seems like a good way to welcome newcomers.

That's fine. There's a chest or two by the default spawn with stuff in for people. I added a few things to it too.
 
I'm back to single player for now... I want to experiement with redstone, minecarts, and building ideas in preparation for the (hopeful) bug fixes at the end of the month.

Too bad about the griefers on the server now.
 
Well, my 1911 pistol is finally coming together. It's taken a few days to prep the site then get building. It's been tough to determine the right proportions of length and width of the grip, slide, etc.

I have been smelting stone lately to replace a lot of the cobblestone. Also since that picture I've been putting on some wood grips. May have to see if a mod can give me a bunch of tree logs as it'll take a lot but I think they look better than wood planks. Also I'll replace parts like the trigger and such with different blocks so it has a nice contrasting look instead of all cobblestone.

It's east of the default spawn.
 
I discovered last night that gravel, which I unintentionally mine a lot of because of its cave in properties is useful as scaffolding for building tall structures because it can easily be removed from the ground as well as from the top. I wish you could boil it into some kind of rock, re-mining it to get flint it time consuming and I don't really use that much flint anyway.
 
Flint is really useful for making arrows. Less useful for making a flint fire starter (since you don't need as many fire starters).

That is pretty bad-ass. I hope to get my mini-project done this weekend so I have my semi-bad-ass project to show off. The big project I have postponed, but it is started at least.

I'll try to do one this weekend, the size of the server world files and the quirks of Cartograph make it kind of an involved process, so I'm going to avoid it more than once a week if I can. I might try the app fatpat268 posted just to see what happens, but if it's really spitting out 1GB+ png files, that's just crazy, heh.

I was online when you were talking about that. If you need some help in mining or something let me know. I have redstone coming out the wazoo and have no idea what to do with it so I'll give you some if you need.
 
Just thought I'd mention that the people on this server are amazingly kind. My house set on fire last night, and vshah and one other person (can't remember the name) came right over and helped me put out the fire. Amazing generosity guys. Thanks.

I just want to throw this out there: I harass and mess with people but I don't do anything malicious!
 
Anybody gonna be on there tonight?

Just set up a local server at my house with my roommate, testing things out. I loved how easy it was to get it going. Anyone recommend some popular admin tools/wrappers/mods?

Hey0s server mod is pretty easy, just throw it in the same folder as minecraft_server.exe and run one of the included .bat files. Adds a lot of useful commands and configuration options.
 
Fixed my troubles with socket write errors. I had to change the Transmit Buffers in my network card's settings to 512 from the default of 256. I used to get socket write errors all the time if I mined too fast (the things that I destroyed would start reappearing right after I destroyed them), but now I can hack away and everything works as it should.
 
I was able to put donkey kong right next to Mario on the wall outside of the arena. I can't remember who made mario, but donkey kong is mine 🙂

There's an extra block on his head that I've since removed, but it came out well. I only had to add 2 more rows to the wall to fit him there too.

lol i love it gorcorps! FYI, this is the_amazing_bic and i made the mario mural. i think im going to add megaman tomorrow, or maybe link...
