Just got into MP with you guys over on the AT server earlier today. I bought this game based on this thread and am loving it! I built myself a lovely little sand palace with a garden behind it. I am kinda miffed though because someone has a GIANT DIRT PLATFORM floating above my house. Theres nothing on said platform and it blocks my sun.

Oh well the first rule of real estate Location Location Location eh?

Magus showed me the Arena and his own tower and I saw the ATOT tower as well. This stuff is really cool guys. Hopefully I'll be able to build stuff that big soon. I'm already trying to figure out how to make my sand house even grander. I think I need to construct a sphinx. Hmmmm I wish I was more creative xD
 
Make sure if you are checking out Zokudu's sand house to remove a torch from a wall for you will need it to keep the darkness away. 😛

But I am sure they will set up some system where people need to actively play on the server to keep the stuff they built if it's nothing huge they want to keep like the arena.

Why would you want to destroy anything? The more stuff, the better.
 
Ok, I finally hopped on the server to see what you guys built (my name there was plc268, so hi if you saw me). And I got a couple of things to say:

1. Holy Crap
2. Holy Crap
3. Holy Crap that pig arena is huge.

I run my own server with a couple of friends (that's all i can really do since my connection is crap), and we built some nice stuff for sure, but none of it is at the scale of some those buildings there. I built my own arena/stadium (for spleefing), and it's maybe 1/10th the size of that pig arena, if that.

So whoever built that place and some of the other huge stuff, kudos to you.

On a side note, it'd be absolutely awesome to see a cartograph map of the server (in oblique-angle).

But seriously I've been brainstorming ideas. I just wish there was like a whitewash stone so I can make an Aladdin style palace....well back to the drawing board.

Bake cobblestone, to make regular stone. If you look at my mine, it is all smooth (albeit light grey, not white). You could make it out of snow, which is white. For some reason we can't make snowballs on the server, but you can in Single Player. 4 snowballs makes a block of snow.
 
BTW, those of you wanting to make waterfalls. /give yourself a block of ice, then break it. Instant water flow.

Also...myself and about six friends tried building a 25x25x25 cube of TNT (thats 15,625 blocks) last night. About 400 blocks in, someone accidentally hit it and blew a huge hole in the earth. Going to try again tonight and try to Frap it.
 
Hopefully I'll log on to the ATOT server tonight and check out what you guys have been doing, maybe stake out my own little spot!
 
I have a plan to build something cool in the next few days. I am just trying to figure out what I should build it out of. I think Obsidian would look the best, so maybe I will ask an admin to give me a large ammount of it.
 
OK, so I started playing solo and been just messing around. But today I hit a (literal) gold mine. This massive underground cavern with tons of resources. I started playing around with crafting and made some things, but I have no idea what they do or how to use them. On the one hand, the discovery aspect of the game is cool. So I feel like it's cheating to go to the Wiki and just read everything. On the other hand, it's frustrating having no idea what to do with things.

So general poll: Did everyone just read the Wiki and be done with it? Or is it worth trying to figure out for yourself?

I think it is more fun figuring it out yourself, but I looked at the Wiki after a day of playing. It does kind of take away from the discovery fun though, so your idea of it being a last resort isn't bad. (the game is still fun as a lego type builder even after you know these things though)
 
I tried for 3 hours to make a ladder then I looked at the wiki. Some stuffs intuitive but if your trying to plan something out its a hassle trying to discover thing.

BTW I'm going to need like a few tons of sand and dirt to build something later tonight will I get yelled at for begging an admin to just give me a ton of sand and dirt? Obviously I won't be asking for gold here but I'll need like....a lot....and a half....
 
Just updated to Hey0's Server mod, as well as Llamacraft, which adds a bunch of functionality to server the nerfs some functionality that currently either causes lag/problems on the server and/or allows griefing.

Woot, finally a way to see who is on the server with the command : /playerlist.

I noticed there is a command to set the time for day or night and was wondering if there is a option you can do yet that keeps it permanently day since we monsters don't work at this time and don't need night for them.

New server mod seems a tad bit unstable, server occasionally boots everyone and restarts. Seems to be saving before that happens tho, which is a plus. Going to keep running it for now and try to look into why it's happening.

Also, looks like minecraft.net is down again.
