Absolutely not! There are plenty of patriotic Muslims in this country and there were several Muslim first responders running into the burning trade center risking and in some cases sacrificing their lives trying to save others.

Places like Dubai, India, Saudi Arabia aren't the problem. Its Iran, Palestinians and Syria that are the problem and Pakistan ain't too far down the list. I disagree. You and I could negotiate to a solution but we're not talking about rational people. We are definitely talking about rational people, and regardless there has specifically been negotiated peace between groups that have used suicide tactics and others in the past.

It's a common tactic in the US to deride our enemies as being insane as opposed to just being... you know... our enemies. It's a terrible cultural blind spot for us that makes it much harder to effectively pursue our interests.

I'd say they hate us because we spent most of the post WWII 20th Century using them as puppets. We puppeted Iraq and Iran against eachother. We puppeted Afghanistan against Russia. We puppeted pretty much all of Southeast Asia. We toppled dictators throughout the world to impose worse dictators. Or we backed horrific monsters of human beings because the other option was a communist. Yes, Ahmadinejad is rational, although it's not like it matters. You realize he has zero real power, right? You think the Israeli/Palestinian conflict is enduring because the Palestinians are irrational? That's absurd.

Unfortunately it didn't turn out that way. It started out great then they started trying to wage war without offending anybody. Now you've got soldiers having to read Miranda rights to terrorists that are shooting at them, soldiers being tried because some insurgent was punched in the mouth while they were trying to arrest him and so on. And you had the Democrat party actively campaigning against the war and scum like Harry Reid saying on the floor of he Senate that "this was is lost". In the end we're still better off. The Taliban aren't in power and unable to fully support terrorism. Bin Laden is dead and Saddam is dead and his regime toppled. The terrorist support structure has been drastically reduced to a fraction of what it was.

The 9/11 attack wasn't performed by Saddam Hussein or even the Taliban regime. The attacks were planned and performed by Al-Qaida. You _attacked_ Afghanistan and then _attacked_ Iraq. You honestly, truly, believe that the invasion - in hindsight - was the best response to the terrorist attacks? If you do, then you've learned nothing over the last decade and that's a shame. The economy is tanked, the respect for America is failing, the wars are lost and the world isn't a better place today than it was 11 years ago. American foreign policy has caused a lot of suffering on all sides, Ron Paul might actually be the only one willing to discuss a more pragmatic approach.

Religion can be irrational at times, we knew who Osama bin Laden was before we accepted Saudi Arabia's invitation onto their soil. We presumably were intelligent enough to know how this man felt about our occupation in that country, yet we still decided to go to the land of mecca and medina.
