I wasn't especially excited for Walz as the VP pick, but now that I have seen more of him I think he is great. I even had my wife make me a new campaign logo:

Would have taken my chances with Shapiro over Walz's child food aid scandal.

"Walz fed kids" is an easy headline but not accurate at all. Poor choice IMO.

They are talking about the free lunch for all program when they say Walz fed kids. The Feeding the Future Scandal is a separate, but serious issue.

Yea, seems to me endorsement by Manchin would be a contrarian indicator.

Yeah, that was my point. He's got the political instincts of a stale saltine. But he's never been very good at anything. Sucked as a business student in college, and sucked as a carpet installer as well. He's been a running joke around here (WV) as long as I can remember ...

I can't pick on either WV or Manchin, because Florida has such winners as Matt Gaetz, Rick Scott, Ron Desantis and Marco Rubio. If not favorites, we'd definitely be contenders for the inter-state political fuckstick competition. Compared to these shitbags Manchin is fantastic.

And length!
Gotta have thicker wires for a longer run
(This is technically true in that you don't want too much resistance, and resistance is equal to rho*L/A so a larger diameter wire does have a lower resistance)
How many people who don't have a $100,000 turntable, a half a million dollar amp, million dollar speakers know enough to spend 75 thousand dollars on a speaker wire?

And from what I’ve read over the decades, a perfect speaker wire would be properly shielded solid silver wire of one single strand, like coat hanger wire.

But expensive and a downright bitch to bend to fit its run from amp to speaker.

(Solid silver because it’s got the lowest resistance of affordable metals.)

How do you shield speaker wire? And why?
And you need two conductors.

Prevent stray EMI from household power wires, which run lower voltage/current.
How do you shield it?
Speaker wire does not need shielding.

I didn't think one post, meant as a joke, would yield so much misinformation.

With a jacket, like any other shielded cabling?

And I get that there are audiophile people who claim that $1000 gold plated wires sound better on their systems. That is nonsensical and, I imagine, would fail any sort of blind test.

But if you're in a electrically noisy environment, or otherwise near other electrical power lines, then shielded cabling would make sense. At least, intuitively. Maybe not practically meaningful though

As for the size of the cabling, that is meaningful because that's just physics. R = p*L/A. There's no getting around that. That doesn't mean go out and buy the biggest cable you can. It just sets the floor for the size of cabling based on the length of the run you're making.

Now back to our regularly scheduled political talk....

Very curious how the rest of this week will go for Harris and Walz!

Speaker wire is dual conductor though, and the speaker only cares about the voltage difference between the two conductors. Environmental interference should affect both wires pretty much exactly the same since they’re run side by side and will mostly cancel out. Also EMI over the wire is very low level compared to the amount of power flowing from amp to speaker.

More careful interference management than “it mostly cancels out” is important in pro environments though, hence balanced/XLR cabling

There's no ground on a speaker, where do you connect the shield? You can't really shield it. All wrapping it with a shield does is cause capacitance issues. It's a high level signal anyways.

Uncle Timmy ....

Tim Walz saw that someone needed help in his speech and stopped talking and directed help to the person. He stopped talking until the person got help. He also told everyone that it was hot out there and for everyone to drink water. It was 78 degrees.

The most boring 3 minutes of a political speech you will ever see.

Just for comparison, the entire audience waiting on Vance to speak ~ 20 white guys taken off their shift as background for Vance. A partial shot of the crowd from Walz above is just slightly different... both speaking in Eau Claire, Wisconsin today

And wire having "sound" had been disproven over and over.

Purchasing things does not make you an expert. I've purchased far more than several high end components.

Wire is a religion at best.
Quality can mean different things though. I have "quality" speaker wire from monoprice. I don't think it sounds any better than random 14 guage wire from Lowe's but it sure as hell is much nicer to work with. Having the thinner strands makes it more flexible and having the strip on the insulation helps you get polarity right.

Despite their pro-worker noises and Vance talking about being pro-union once again they went to a non-union company.

Any union member who votes for Trump is as a stupid as any service member who votes for Trump.
