As Shapiro’s past statements on Palestine come to light, I’m kinda hoping it’s not Shapiro.

Is there that much daylight between what Shapiro has said on US support of Israel and other people on that list for VP consideration?

It's not like the VP normally just freelances on their own.
And when they do, it is often not a positive... just to call out three examples of what is more typically a non-event office with minimal actual responsibilities:

- Spiro Agnew (the only VP or President criminally charged and convicted while in office, but also notable for being the first VP or President to actively and repeatedly attack the press - long before it became a Republican staple, and notable for also attacking Vietnam war protestors);
- Henry Wallace (who while VP and running for president, pulled a Trump in directly colluding with Stalin to undermine American foreign policy, and he wrote a book with an American KGB agent praising the Bolshevik "renaissance" under Stalin's brutal regime...)
- Dick Cheney, who after pushing Bush into repeated foreign policy disasters managed to leave office with an impressive13% favorability rating

She kept her head down, she did her job, she didn't get in the way of the president or the party's accomplishments, and she was ready to rock when called to be the president (as we see now). I could ask nothing more from a good VP.
She's "rockin" now, and hopefully will get another boost when she chooses the VP. Lets see if she can keep up the momentum after the honeymoon phase wears off and the Reps throw the kitchen sink at her. I think personal attacks may backfire, but they can attack on the Border and the economy, especially. (Yea, yea, I know the economy is good by certain stats, but people are still hurting from the aftermath of inflation.)

Yeah, that's the same playbook they've been trying with biden though and they haven't gotten much headway. Reason #1 why I'm happy with Harris, no dirt (as far as I can tell).

^^ Harris has lots of dirt. Big issues while she was DA. Whether they'll dig any of it up or keep on the race angle remains to be seen.

I'm rootin for Mr. Walz. Let's go.
I think he is my top choice now too, but I also liked Bashear but I don’t know that much about him. Walz should be solid for centrists but the left will probably not be happy with his previous NRA membership. We need someone who appeals to the kiddos

They'll hammer Walz on the Floyd thing. Andy's about as clean as a politician can be, but he may be too boring and low key for many, and I still don't think he'll throw his family on the fire.

Damn, if only Pete wasn’t gay. I think he would probably be a pretty big risk.

Yeah he is my number one choice and I also fear the same thing. A part of me is saying fuck it let's just go it for it and swing for the fences and I think we could do it but part of me thinks America just hasn't evolved enough. But I would love to be pleasantly surprised

As much as I like Pete impulsiveness is what got Trump saddled with Senator Couch Fucker.

Based upon all available evidence Harris will make a much more calculated political decision.

Oh I agree and that's what I've maintained., has to pick a straight white male, simply because it can't be Pete. But there is still a little bit of that more naive young progressive me from over 20 years ago that still likes to dream inside.

I'm putting my money on Walz though.

My thought is "one new thing" at a time. But then I think that way at work (developer) and in my band too....too many new things at once lead to train wrecks!

The new thing was Obama was a non-lily-white man.
Hillary almost made it as a white woman, without the shitty EC she would have made it.
Now we have a non-white woman. Adding a gay dude might be too much for fragile blue-collar whities in these swing states. Or even for some minorities, they tend to be more religious and religious types tend to be more bigoted toward gays.

I don't give a flying **** about Harris' stint as DA and I doubt many others will either. The GOP will make up and embellish everything anyway. They'd shit all over Baby Jesus if he was running as a Democrat.

But who knows, I'm not part of the team picking the VP so I'm sure they have shit-tons of info and good people poring over it.

Walz perhaps once was this good ole backslapping country boy that won rural districts, but that is not who he is now. He has shifted far to the left. As I said in another post, Walz was defeated in nearly every rural county in MN (a blue state, BTW) in the last Gov. election. Yes, I know, that is the pattern for Dem governors, but Walz did worse in rural counties than Shapiro or Whitmer, for instance. Hell, the Dem trifecta that included Walz has been held up as the model of how to pass "progressive" legislation at the state level with a thin majority. Of course, since he basically shifts position however the wind blows and espouses whatever is politically expedient at the moment, he might well switch back to a more moderate position. He also has lots of baggage related to the George Floyd riots and Feeding the Future scandal. It absolutely astounds me that he is even under consideration for VP.

Sorry, bah Washington Post has changed how gifted articles work, you have to make an account now & provide e-mail address to read gifted articles which is stupid (don't have to actually pay/subscribe)

Was published today August 2nd, at 12:03 pm eastern - that is latest current news. That article, and other reporting, also confirms that Beshear, Buttigieg, and Shapiro have all cancelled previously scheduled plans for this weekend.

Mn maybe a blue state but I really doubt the really rural counties aren’t red.

I’ve already seen ads listing problem cases as DA.

Ha, yeah I can't wait for when the traitor, insurrectionist, convicted felon and sexual predator tries to explain to everyone how Harris had some 'problematic' work decisions.

That's up there with an Epstein buddy and serial cheater criticizing a prosecutor for an "inappropriate" relationship!

Now the coward and postermanchild for brain damage is telling crowds Harris is 'low IQ.' He's clearly loading those diapers of his pretty fast, look at him pretend he suddenly cares about 'conflicts of interest' wrt to the ABC debate he agreed to. So weak, what an absolute pussy ass bitch.
