Palm Vx = Overpriced but nice.
Palm VII = Overpriced and not very useful gimmick
Palm IIIc = Overpriced
Visor Prism = Overpriced
Visor Edge = Overpriced, but my absolute favourite of all of them
Compaq iPaq = OK price for the hardware, but most of what it does is superfluous for most people (but it is a good machine).
Palm IIIxe = Excellent deal, but may be possibly more than you need
Visor Deluxe = Good deal, but may be possibly more than you need
Visor = Probably will suit your needs, unless you can get in on that ultracheap VDx deal. If you use AvantGo though, you will quickly grow out of a Visor though.
<< Do this - take the best Palm offering (the 3c, 5x or the 7x) and compare them to a PocketPC device. Seriously - put them side by side and try to enter contact information, enter schedules, etc. The most important aspect is how easily you can enter information and retrieve it. >>
It's very easy to enter info on a Visor Deluxe, which I own. It's easy on an iPaq too (my friend has one). Dunno what you're talking about. It's interesting to note that until recently, the Palm OS machines actually synch'd better with Microsoft's own Outlook than Windows CE did. However, they are now equally good. I like my friend's iPaq, but the key problem is he paid more than twice what I paid for my Deluxe. And, I actually have more software related to my field on my VDx than he has on his iPaq, because the software support in my field is MUCH better for the Palm OS. His screen is better, but he never watches videos, and he doesn't listen to MP3 etc. His battery life sucks though. So, in essence, he paid more to get effectively less functionality than what I have. On the other hand if you NEED all that extra stuff, then by all means spend your money on it. I'd consider buying a Pocket PC machine if they cost $299. Unfortunately, they don't cost anywhere near that low a price.
See my sig for more info on the Visor.
