I just want to know how in the hell do they find these old threads anyway? Damned search function isn't worth a darn so how do these idiots find these 10 year old threads? And why?

Ehh, I find this an interesting read myself, and unlike tech parts, can still kind of be talked about.

My previous car (1999 Mercury Cougar) ended up with the notorious CD4E tranny. Going up a hill one day I lost second and 4th (overdrive) at 158K miles. Bought my grandparents 1998 Volvo V70 GLT at 168K miles a few months ago. Makes cake out of my daily commute through highway 49.

I'm gonna go ahead and throw this name out there. Allison transmissions are hands down the best tranny you can have imo. I know they mostly belong in freight trucks but I believe GM has been using allison transmissions in their diesel for a few years.
