Who is the BEST player in the NBA?

Possibly the most skilled player in the NBA. Out of the players in the poll, I refuse to vote unless Dirk is included as well. But since I didnt vote, I'll say Kobe. Its a team sport, but you're asking which individual is the best, and out of those four Kobe is the most skillful.

I say its duncan, simply because he has a good supporting cast, and everything he throws falls in!

KG is very good also... too bad he does not have as strong supporting cast. Also he needs to get over the playoff anxiety

i disagree... yesterday's game put TD ahead of kobe for the "who's the best right now" award. KG had the best season, but he still hasn't been proven in the playoffs (nene wasn't much competition).

how ridiculous is that? kobe and duncan don't play the same position, they weren't going one on one, how does that game determine who's better? please explain

the question is who's the best at this very moment. That limits it to who's playing right now and how they're playing. after what happened to Kobe and the Lakers yesterday when Duncan stepped up in the 4th and Kobe did nothing, I have to vote Duncan. Which player got his team a win? Kobe may play better on Wed and the Lakers may win, but that's another poll. KG may dominate Webber and Miller, but again, that remains to be seen.

At this second, after seeing the way he stepped up in clutch time and got his team the W, Duncan is the top dog.

Plus, I doubt anyone would take Kobe first if all the GMs had to re-pick their teams right now... not even Kupcheck and Buss. The real possibility of him never playing again after these playoffs is too big a risk.

Of course, after saying all that, I still voted for Kobe. That's what being a fan is all about.

you're pretty much saying that when jamal crawford dropped nearly 50 points in a game, that he was the best player in the NBA for the day? jason kidd puts up a triple double, so he's the best player for that day? we're not talking about individual performances, but a whole seasons worth of play.

if your opinion changes from game to game, i really couldn't care less for it.

What does the supporting cast have anything to do with identifying the BEST player? T-Mac can be considered one of the best players and his supporting cast is almost non-existent.

No, no, no...

Regular season stats and playoff stats are a completely different thing. Once the playoffs start, your top player has to deliver night in and night out. He can't take a night off or you're not going to advance. During the regular season, all you want is some consistency and no injuries just to make sure your team makes the playoffs.

I think it's a little bit like the real NBA... if Shaq misses 20 free throws in a game during the regular season, it's something to laugh at. If he does it against San Antonio in the playoffs, he should be shot and traded back to orlando for TMac and forced to play with no backup center for the rest of his career. It's just a completely different mindset and game.

KG was the regular season MVP. By a lot. That doesn't mean he's the best. He has to earn that title.
AI won an MVP and he's not even considered the greatest player in Philly history. Greatness is all about what you do when all the chips are on the table. You have to win it all to be the best. That's how you get your number retired. Only TD and Kobe have proven they're in that category so far and should even be considered.

I think that TD's MVP voting this year was hurt by his injury, otherwise the MVP voting wouldn't have been so lopsided. I say TD is the best in the NBA, his offensive game is better than KG's (Can score in the post and shoot the jumper, only knock is fts), probably a better defender, and has proven he's capable of winning it all.
