No. McDonalds 10 years ago is to coffee as PF Changs is to Chinese Food.

And yet you say you've never been to PF Chang's. Educated opinion indeed.

Lol! I just read more of the thread and you basically said PF Chang's is an all you can eat place. Pro tip: Know wtf you are talking about before making an opinionated statement. Geez.

OP, PF Chang's is basically an 'upscale' Americanized Chinese food place. It costs more but I do think the quality scales. The brown rice is awesome, especially when mixed with the sauce, and I've yet to have an entree I didn't like. The atmosphere is very nice as well. With that being said, how old are your kids? I'm not quite sure why kids would be all about going to this place.

Food is ok.......it's a nice place but food is kinda expensive for what you get. You go for the "niceness" of the restaurant.

It's called "ambiance" I believe. Have one PF Changs less than a mile from where I live. Family usually goes there for special occasions. Waiting time typically runs <30 minutes, but you can call ahead for reservations. Usually end up with a bill >$400, that's for about 14 people, not so bad since we split the bills.

Sorry Nazi

Who cares since it's still tasty.

I care because it isn't very tasty to me. Might as well pay 1/3 the cost and go to a normal asian/south-east asian restaurant.

The only dish I have had at PF Chang's that was halfway decent was the 8$ Singapore street noodles. Everything else that I have tried tasted terrible (esp. fish).

This just amazes me. I don't see how anyone could think it is terrible unless you hate americanized Chinese food... which means you shouldn't go there anyway. I hate sushi. I don't go to sushi restaurants.

What dishes did you enjoy? Everytime I have gone, it has been hit or miss. Frankly, it is the most hit/miss restaurant I have been to.

I've had good and bad Americanized Chinese and even non-Americanized Chinese (which i admit was beyond awful) yet the two times I've been to PF Changs it was not good at all.

PF Changs is how Randy got the world record for poo size.

I've been to some AMAZING Asian restaurants for the prices that PF Changs would charge..

Never been in a PF Changs so I'll reserve judgment, but just wanted to put that out there.

I don't exactly frequent the place. I've been there a few times though and the rice (+sauce!) is the biggest draw for me. I do remember having the spicy chicken, the beef (mongolian?), and the spicy shrimp. All three were good. Awesome? No. Better than the $8 take-out around the corner? Absolutely... if only for the rice alone.

With that being said, I prefer Pei Wei. Price is about the same as the normal take out places and the rice is the same as PF Chang's. This makes sense though considering it is basically PF Chang's without the nice restaurant atmosphere.

Mongolian beef was decent. Also the Zodiac Noodles (2 years ago Chinese New Year) were good. Notwithstanding the Singapore street noodles, everything else I had was not good. I've been about 10 times.

Just added the link to Pei Wei. Check that out if you've never heard of it. Owned by PF Chang's and is basically considered PF Chang's Take-Out. Much cheaper but then again it's the same food (for the most part) so I guess that still doesn't make it 'good' for ya. ;)

I've never been concerned with food that is "good" for me :p

I eat whatever the heck I wanna eat :p. PF Chang's is when its restaurant roulette time, that is, the time where you wanna go out to eat with buddies, but nobody has any ideas where to go and nobody wants to try someplace new, and cheesecake factory is busy (all the time).
