Who here absolutely love their car?

Just wanted to see who here absolutely love their car (current & past) and what car/cars you've own disappointed you. What car do you have? how long have you had it & why you love/hate it?

(I'm not listing every car i've own) Let me start with a few...

1988 Toyota Celica GT 110K - Would buy again - First car I had when I was in high school and thought it was the fastest, greatest looking, & best car in the world . So many memories I had with the car. Looking back, the car was such a hoopty POS . Transmission failure was the biggest thing that went wrong...though at that time i didn't know that owning a car require you to maintain it. I beat the heck out of the car and drove it everywhere (who doesn't when you first got your license?) I would definitely buy another 88 Celica not because I like it but because of all the memories i've had.

1992 Nissan 300zx 120k - Would buy again - Had the car for like 9 months, fun car & get a lot of attention especially girls , a lot of girls love the car & keep asking me for rides. Also a lot of people at stop light would start conversation with me & tell me how nice the car was (They couldn't believe it was a 92 when I told them). Mind you the car was taken care of and was in mint condition. Ultimately I sold the car because the dashboard squeaks/rattles & the car doesn't have enough hp for a sports car (should have dish out the money and bought the Twin Turbo). The car was very reliable & gave me 0 mechanical problem. I missed the car a lot and still passively looking for a mint condition/low mileage 94-96 Twin Turbo 300z to buy

1990 Supra Turbo 109k - Would not buy - I sold my 300z to buy this car for $500 (blown head gasket) with the intention of rebuilding it. I put in about $4-5k in parts alone and countless hours of labors (engine rebuild, turbo upgrade, sanding & painting the car). It was fun & rewarding at the same time. I absolutely love the car even though it's very unreliable & spend more time in the garage being fix than actual time on the road. The car was very fast and because I've basically build it from the ground up, it made me overlook all the negatives about the car.

I would not buy this car again because it's just too unreliable & have too many problems. Prepare to spend the majority of the time under the hood instead of on the road. Also the prices of these cars have skyrocketted ever since the "import tuner" nutjob discovered "supra".

2006 Honda Civic DX Coupe 0 miles - Would buy again as a 2nd car & priced right - The first car I bought brand new and loved it. I took meticulous care of the car (Mobil 1 synthetic, 30k transmission fluid change, etc...) After 2 years, I put 46k miles on the car with no mechanical/reliability issue until...rattles! I absolutely hate the interior rattling. Other than that, the car's interior, exterior & under the hood look like it just came out of the dealer with 0 miles...that's how well I took care of the car.

I'm OCD i guess but I can not stand interior rattle. Cheap POS

2006 Honda Accord LX Coupe 66k - Would not buy again - Couldn't stand the civic's rattling issues, I traded it in for this Accord. The accord have a substantial list of improvements over the civic. It have more power & torque (very noticeable) Power locks, remote entry/trunk, much quietier & smoother ride, interior quality is a huge upgrade, etc...

The only thing I hate about the car is that you can't really upgrade the stock radio due to honda's proprietary radio they put in there that control the a/c unit.

I thought it was going to be the car that i'll love and keep driving until the wheels fall off. But it's been cold lately & the interior started to rattles ...I'm so sick of Honda and their cheap POS interior rattling. Apparently they still didn't fix this "little" issue with the new 08+ accord either. Everyone is complaining of how cheap the plastic they're using & causing all kind of interior squeaks/rattle (did I mention their Acura line have the same problem?) Also at 68k miles, my car is having trouble starting in very cold weather. WTF, the car is a 2006 Model year & i'm going to need a new batter already?

I will not buy any more Honda/Acura crap until they start putting higher interior plastic in their cars that won't squeaks & rattle.

---------------------------------------

So I'm now looking to get rid of my car & get a different one (Not any Honda/Acura for sure).

I wipe my car down every morning, as long as its not pouring or super dry. I live in the mountains so its usually always rained during the night or at least a ton of condensation and morning dew. and by car i mean car, windows, rims, and often door jams/wheel wells/under the side skirts.

i wash it almost every week, sometimes twice a week if i drive to a dirty place.

I love my car, snorgle snorgle, Squeek!

I have an 07 EX-L version of the car you driving, the main thing i hate about the car is the stereo. I dunno wheather i wouldn't buy it again or not for that reason, but everything else about the car is great. it's a great commuter car and comfortable for my two hours in the car every day

The rattles, well, some people have more rattle problems than others on these cars, some are well documented and there are instructions on how to fix some rattles coming from the doors, PM me if you want. But some rattles are voodoo and can't be figured out where they are from. I had a rattle coming from the ceiling liner that was fixed by the dealer.

I currently have a 2005 Toyota Tacoma. It is far from perfect, but I love it...would definitely buy again. That being said...I plan on keeping this forever and eventually picking up a second car (maybe a sports car). My wife will have the more practical family hauler.

2002 Mustang GT... Generally love it, it never fails to put a smile on my face. The only part of me that doesn't love it is the part of me that wishes it were a Corvette.

Viper GTS

2008 Mazda RX-8 - Absolutely love it and will never part with it. Plenty of more cars/bikes in my future, but the RX-8 stays.

i love my car. a 1999 olds 88 LSS it gets around in the snow very well, gets 30mpg on the highway and runs awesome. lether seats, nice stereo and a lot of room. it also handles pretty well for a 10 year old car.

My first car, a used accord, had a bad transmission shortly after buying it and that soured me. Next I had a 93 sentra, 00 maxima, 04 mpv, 97 maxima and the last four have all been great, no major problems with any of them. 00 Maxima bought at 37k miles and now at 120 and has been nearly flawless. Very very happy with it!

Not a Viper GTS?

First car 2000 Mazda MPV (40k miles)- No pickup(160hp 2.5L Duratec V6), meh interior, rattles on the highway thanks to vin plate being rivited in and not glued on. Wouldn't buy again.

Second car 2002 Toyota Camry 0k miles - Great car, soft touch plastics everywhere, comfortable ride, excellent day to day car, great price, engineering and he little touches (storage, ergonomics, general utility, etc) are great. Would buy again. In fact I still have it after all these years. IMO it's beautiful and looks much better than the 2007+ models.

Third car 1997 Lexus SC400 (90k miles)- Beautiful car, rock solid, bulletproof, awesome sound system. Wish I had the 98-2000 with he 290hp V8 and 5sp auto instead of the 1997 with the new style but only 260hp V8 and 4 speed auto but would buy again. Sold it to buy the MR2.

Fourth car 2000 Toyota MR2 Spyder (50k miles)- Spent 3 months in the shop for a turbo and various other performance upgrades. Incredible sleeper with 16" SSR Comp wheels and stock body. Ended up at about 235RWHP and boy did it go since it weighed about 2200lbs. Trapped the 1/4 mile 12.9 @ 107mph. Sold it because I got a few too many speeding tickets and insurance would have been $3k a year. Women love this car since it's "cute." If I could have it back, I would. Most fun I ever had, nothing like a lightweight, turbo, 5 speed, MR (who needs Porsche when you have a faster, better handling car?) to get you excited to drive to work in the morning.

Everyone should drive a mid engined convertible at least once in their life.

First bike 2005 Suzuki GS500F (10k miles)- Nice starter bike, didn't kill me, easy to ride, good riding position, looks like a mini-gixxer. Outgrew it though so I wouldn't buy it again.

Second bike 2005 Kawasaki Ninja 650R (17k miles)- Beautiful, fast enough for me(0-60 in ~3.8s), some rattling issues with the fairing fixed mostly with a recall. Great times with the bike, I remember opening it up and doing 139mph at one point. Scariest moment on a vehicle in my life but such a rush. Sold it because in Illinois, it snows/rains/is too cold to ride 4 or 5 months out of a year. Also, my SO kept nagging me, worrying I'd get myself killed.

Fifth car 2006 Mercedes E500 4matic (30k miles) - Wonderful car, iffy about keeping it after my warranty runs out though. Great interior, sexy exterior(sport package with rear lip spoiler, factory privacy glass), can't resist that V8 burble. Classy, quick, absolutely loaded with options, handles a lot better than you'd think with adjustable airmatic suspension.

Overall I've spent way too much money on cars and bikes over the years but that's my first love and passion so I can't say I'd do it any differently.

Love my 07 Towncar has lots of room very comfortable like sitting in lazyboy and rides like a cloud with it's air suspension. Bought it w/ 6000 miles. Had a 01 towncar before that.

Hate my wifes SLK I don't even fit in it and it gets worse mileage than my F350 Diesel.

93 geo storm - biggest piece of shit ever with 90hp and a 3 speed auto. Engine and tranny both failed before 105k.

95 firebird formula - beautiful dark green, got a hell of a deal on it so I settled for an auto. Totaled driving in a hurricane.

00 trans am. I hate the color(white). I was determined to get a manual so I sacrificed color plus it had ram air. The half ass gm build quality is starting to show with rattles.

I would buy both firebird's again, they are fun cars but I don't think I will buy another. I really want a corvette and I think there's a good chance I'll grab one in 09. 🙂

First and only car:

1999 Toyota Camry - Hate it. It's big, wide, clunky, ugly, it rides like crap, it drives like crap, it'll last forever so I have no real reason to buy a new car, the interior is falling apart but still looked like crap when we bought it brand new. It wasn't well taken care of by my parents and sat for 6 months before me getting it.

A new car, I want one. 🙁

03 Element. Love this thing so far. Yeah, it's a toaster but fairly good gas mileage, 4x4, and plenty of cargo space. And it's also a Honda. Never go back to my VW.

My car is heavy, underpowered, and lacks power windows and locks. Despite all of that I still love and prefer driving it over other cars.

Current Car: 03 Ford Focus 75k miles. The good: It's cheap. The bad: It's cheap. I've had it for a year and a half now and the cost cutting Ford did on it is starting to annoy me. Recently had the PCV breather hose disintegrated causing it to run horribly, $40 to fix it but took me nearly a month to find where it had come apart at. The trunk latch is beginning to fail ($100 part) and I have had the power window controls fail and need to be replaced ($60) also the radio went bonkers and had to be replaced. Other than that it has been fairly mechanically reliable. Going to hold on to it as long as it doesn't die or piss me off completely.

Previous Car: 91 Infiniti G20 175k miles. I loved this car and looked into getting a newer one back when I bought the Focus. Sadly they aren't all the common and at the time the Focus would of been a better value. Nissan needs to get their act together and produce another car like it. I would trade my Focus for one no questions asked. I guess the closest thing on the market to it now would be the Lexus IS series.
Had some trouble with the window regulators (all 4 failed and had to be replaced) but I found the part had been revised in the 92 model and was able to get junkyard parts and fix it. I would of kept it but it needed much more work done to it than it was worth (clutch, waterpump, rear main seal, among other things).

Car before that: 86 Chrysler LeBaron 187k miles (est). Times were tough for me then, I had it for 2 years. It leaked every type of fluid you could put in it but started every time and got me where i needed to go and the A/C worked (big bonus for living in Texas). Had some crazy issues though. The bolts that held the K-frame/steering rack to the underbody of the car would shear off every couple thousand miles and need to be replaced, had a broken vacuum line somewhere that would cause the vents to go to defrost mode if you accelerated hard (well as hard as you could anyways), and one of the power steering lines rubbed through and sprayed the exaust manifold with fluid creating a nice smokescreen and freaking me out. Got rid of it after one of the heater lines burst and it overheated.

I loved my car. Until the transmission...well now the fucker slips allll the way through first gear.

So now I'm faced with a tough decision - sell the car, rebuild the ATX, or swap in an MTX.

hmmmmm.

I love my 2001 Lexus ES 300. It's my first car and I have no complaints at all. It's in mint condition, has just over 100 k km on it, and the guy who bought it new maxed out all the options, it's even got the rare factory spoiler at the back.

First car: 1989 Buick Riviera: Black exterior, black/blue interior, tech package, leather. It was great for what it was. Pretty cool touchscreen, absolutely state of the art for the time, and the ride was unbelievable. The thing could also tackle snow like nobodys business. Id buy it again if I had too, but the looks definitely weren't me (especially as a 16 year old in the new millenium).

1997 Trans Am: Black on black, manual, t-tops, leather, aftermarket exhaust, aftermarket sound. My god I love this car. It has alot of miles on it, but it still kicks as strong as ever, sounds amazing, and even now it just gives me that completely goofy grin on my face when I see it. Quick shameless plug, its for sale, if anyone is interested 😉.

2005 Infiniti G35 Coupe: Bought it for a bit more of a "business" car, as I may be going into the sales field. I figured it would look a bit more mature over the TA. Absolutely love this car too. Not as throaty sounding as the Trans Am, but still sounds killer in its own way. Black on black leather again, manual again (notice a trend?), sport package.

Yep, I think id buy at the minimum the TA and the G again no sweat, but I havent had the G long enough to truly know. An 02 black TA with low miles will definitely be in my future, if nothing else for a track/fun car.

🙂
