I haven't done it in almost 15 years, but if it were legal I would probably smoke it once in a great while. Given that it's almost completely harmless, it should be legal.
ALMOST completely harmless would mean it is SOMEWHAT harmful.
Yes but everything is SOMEWHAT harmful. Cannabis is much less carcinogenic than car exhaust for example, and far less poinsonous than potatoes.

I just think people who do it for recreational use are lesser people.

If you need a drug, and you are medically ok, to make your life better then you have even less of a life than me.
You substitute the word 'need' for 'want'. The human body experiences pleasure by releasing chemicals into the brain which then reacts to them - they might be released just by reading a book or maybe by skydiving or having sex. Recreational drugs simply allow you to release these chemicals at will. What, in principle, is wrong with that?
Why not read a book or skydive or have sex instead of using something that is more toxic than the other things you have listed? (Assuming your parachute works when you are skydiving and there are no other... influences)
Well I might counter - why not do those things
while on drugs for double the fun

but seriously, cannabis is not really toxic. It's famously easier to kill yourself eating ordinary foods like potatoes than by eating cannabis. It is widely believed to be impossible to eat (let alone smoke) enough cannabis to kill yourself. The same is true of LSD BTW so you have plenty of non-toxic options.
Now with other drugs, yes, you have a point. Every time I use cocaine or MDMA or other amphetamines then I take a risk of negative side effects, or even overdose, but isn't that my choice to make? It might make me crazy in your eyes but it doesn't make me a 'lesser person' as you say... I don't even know what that means...
