I don't smoke anymore, and when I did it was to help me sleep.

You want the states you can do that in, okay look at this map. After you look at the pretty picture, take 5 minutes and read this wiki article, then kindly SHUT THE FUCK UP.

"Most places that have decriminalized cannabis have civil fines, drug education, or drug treatment in place of incarceration and/or criminal charges for possession of small amounts of cannabis, or have made various cannabis offenses the lowest priority for law enforcement."

Last I checked... that isn't 100% legal.

Reading comprehension? Most != all.

You lack even less [reading comprehension], because I read the article and it doesn't say that a single has it legalized. >_>

Thanks for the compliment! Dumbass.

Quite a few states are turning a blind eye to it's use. It is no longer a criminal act. You are allowed to smoke in your own home, smoking in public is illegal, just as drinking in public is in most places.

I never said legalized, I said decriminalized.

I figured you would be smart enough to realize what we were talking about. >_> I guess not.

You said reversed. The reverse/opposite of illegal is legal.

You said reversed too.

I said it was slowly (not going very quickly), state by state (as in not federally, each state making their own laws), being reversed (turned around). So lets break this down. Each state is slowly working it's way through the steps and processes required to make marijuana no longer illegal. You really are a dumbfuck. You make this too easy.

I've never tried it, never want to. If you need to smoke something to feel better you need to work on some aspects of your life so that you do not need an artificial source of pleasure or happiness.

Well, I get pretty awful stress headaches.. The stress is mostly from my crappy commute and getting stuck in traffic, life is otherwise pretty swell :) But smoking a little pot works wonders, far better than over the counter pain meds. Is that really so bad?

Also, "if you need to take a pill to feel better..." logic applies to many, many disorders/ailments that you can't judge someone for having (arthritis)

Make a better commute? Listen to audio books? :p I wouldn't mind traffic with a nice audio book on, or music. I like the idea of not having to smoke anything. :p

Many disorders/ailments require those for you to live life semi-normally. I am ok if you smoke marijuana for medical reasons. :p I just think people who do it for recreational use are lesser people. ;) If you need a drug, and you are medically ok, to make your life better then you have even less of a life than me.

Meh, it's the same as anything else. Some people have a drink to relax when they get home after a long day, some people play vdeo games, some people read books, some people workout, and some people smoke a little pot.

Some people do all of those things and live their lives to the fullest without any negative repercussions whatsoever. Some don't, but it's all about doing things in moderation, so I see absolutely no problem with it.

This "argument": "you need to work on some aspects of your life so that you do not need an artificial source of pleasure or happiness" is complete bullshit and makes absolutely no sense. So what, we are not allowed to watch movies, read fiction, or play video games either?

Actually, all of the ubber-cool people I've known were massive drug addicts. Look at Mitch Hedberg! The abstinence-only people tended to be dorks or annoyingly anal. And they all pretty much remained lonely, or just lightened up a bit.

Not saying that you have to be a drug addict to be "cool," but all the cool kids were drug addicts.. They're also mostly 26 and working at cafes or as waiters, but that's another story.

Its amazing that there are people as stupid as what I'm reading on this thread. To call someone a "lesser person" because they smoke a joint once in a while. I wish, wish, WISH you were right in front of me saying something like that.

Show me one state where it is legal to sell/buy and smoke pot right in front of a police officer.

you have to remember how stupid the average person is, and that 1/2 are stupider then that

youre pretty much sounding like an idiot right now. the states arent trying to make it illegal, they are decriminalizing it to the point where getting caught with a couple joints doesnt stick you in the pokey for 3 years. in any of the states that have any kind of decriminalization, try smoking a bowl or a joint in public and not get busted for it. if a cop smells and sees you doing it, you will get busted. just not as bad as before.

and any drug that alters your mental perception and slows your response time is a bad thing, especially when behind the wheel of an auto. want to make it legal? go ahead. but you better keep great tabs and control over it like alcohol, getting into an accident while stoned is akin to drunk driving, and also the reason its called DUI instead of DWI.

many who push for legalization agree with that, i think they should tax it, they would make billions

Me.

I don't think it should be illegal though. I've been around potheads...they're less dangerous high than they are otherwise.

Uhm what? I never, ever said it was completely legal to do in public. I said states were in the process of reversing the current laws, which they are. I never said you could smoke in public, many places don't even allow you to drink/be intoxicated in public. So, explain, how am I sounding like an idiot?

And I agree, when it is legal, it should be taxed and regulated like alcohol. Any person with half a cell in their brain would understand the need for common sense rules and regulations.

Tax it heavily... very heavily. :) Put it all into public education. I am down with that idea... Billions going into our education system. :D I would make it illegal until 21 like alcohol though. Only make it 18 when alcohol is 18.

But see, that would never happen. So I prefer it to be illegal. :) At least those fines go somewhere. I doubt it'd be taxed heavily/if-at-all... and people would just grow it at their home tax free.

I have never taken a recreational drug other than alcohol. I've also never had a narcotic of any sort (prescribed or otherwise). I have a couple dozen friends who are similar, having never done a recreational drug. It's not entirely common, but we're out there.

FWIW I support total legalization of all drugs.

Yes but everything is SOMEWHAT harmful. Cannabis is much less carcinogenic than car exhaust for example, and far less poinsonous than potatoes.

You substitute the word 'need' for 'want'. The human body experiences pleasure by releasing chemicals into the brain which then reacts to them - they might be released just by reading a book or maybe by skydiving or having sex. Recreational drugs simply allow you to release these chemicals at will. What, in principle, is wrong with that?

You have never even taken ibuprofen? Must suck to be you when you are in pain. :( I have had Novocaine injected into me quite a few times. That was for all the teeth I have had pulled. (Like 8 or so teeth I have had pulled I think)
