racist!! But your statement does remind me of the 2004 summer olympics when the U.S. dream team got spanked.

Yes if we would have fielded our best white only team the U.S. would have won the gold that year.

If they would have fielded an all white team in 2008 they would have gone undefeated and won the gold. Oh wait.

I understand that skill (aka fundamentals) can make up for lack of athleticism and ultimately basketball is a team game but to say "whites" are only fundamental and can only shoot and that "blacks" are only athletically and lack skill (aka fundamentals) is plain wrong. Basketball is a game of skill; there are many "skills" that one can have to be successful. Jumping forty inches is a skill, being able to defend the pick and roll is a skill, being able to pass the ball with both hands is a skill, etc. Some skills can be easily learned, others not so much.

Who would you say the most "fundamental" big man basketball player in the NBA today is? I would say Tim Duncan.

Who would you say the most "fundamental" guard basketball player in the NBA today is? I would say Kobe Bryant.

Now regarding the "white-only" league how does one test if they meet the qualifications? Is there a whiteness or blackness test they ad-mister?

We should pool $10k to buy a team license then hire a black coach.

Growing up I played in an Asian league where the rule was you had to be at least 1/8 Asian. The MVP of the league was a half Japanese half Black dude...haha.

I see a LOOPHOLE!!!!

"Only players that are natural born United States citizens with both parents of Caucasian race are eligible to play in the league," the statement said."

All we need is white parents who adopted a child of color who was born in the US. That would be so awesome to ruin their party.

While I have no doubts that is fueled by nothing but hatred and bigotry....as Chris Rock said it best.."I ain't saying he shoulda done it....but I understand".

I play in pickup games with a group of guys at our gym and at a YMCA. Normally it's just a bunch of healthcare people (mostly MD's some residents and a couple IT guys) that play. Nothing ruins the day worse than when a couple D-League castoffs show up and want to play. It's rude to say no, so you let them in. And then it just turns into one big showboating, ballhogging, bitchfest.

I understand not wanting that type of behavior in a league. Not saying that a white dude can't be a prick on the court...but it's just not even remotely as common.

That's just stupid. I don't care about basketball, but if I did I'd want to see the best athletes playing it regardless of what their race is. This will be a league filled with no-talent red necks.

BET has had white people host shows on there. The last time I watched it, Robin Thicke was hosting a show, he's... white! And Gary Owens hosted a show on there for an entire season, he was white as they come. They also show music from white artists throughout the day. Sure they don't show even close to as many, but look at the music they play. It's not exactly like there are an even number of black to white performers in Rap & R&B. This B-Ball league has a strict policy against any non white players. BET has no such policy at all, it's not surprising most of what you see on there is black people considering the type of music and shows they play.

BET sucks donkey duck, and this League does too. But this league sucks for an entirely different reason

BET is racist? Eminem won a BET award, think about that for a minute...

How do you feel about 2 people in the same exact position but one is black and one is white while NAACP/Affirmative Action helps the black man just because he's black and gives a giant middle finger to the white man just because he's white?

shrug. its there money to waste. its not like im going to watch it.

but i can understand why they are doing it. I used to love playing/watching basketball. But it seems today its all about dunking and not fundamental play.

I have played in 6'4" and under leagues (I'm 6'3") and find them more enjoyable than playing in unlimited leagues. There certainly are more white guys and better fundamentals.

shit like this starts groups like the KKK. i dont think it should be allowed

why? besides the fact that its a US citizens right to be a idiot. and where would you stop? Not to mention you racist fuck groups like UNFC and such have helped many black youth get a college education. so why you trying to keep the black man down?

i would watch if they woudl use an old school ball and dressed with 1920s uniforms and wore goofy moustaches with slicked back hair

"Lewis said he wants to emphasize fundamental basketball instead of "street-ball" played by "people of color."

This distinction, no matter how you justify it, is just wrong. "Street-ball" follows the EXACT same rules and the difference is probably dunks, BETTER ball handling, and more exciting game play. To say that it is played by PEOPLE OF COLOR is just plain IGNANT.

Actually, this seems the most reasonable part of this guys argument. However, why not just a League that regulates based on that premise instead of assuming only "Whites" and "All-Americans" can abide by it?

They're not only excluding non-whites but also white people who don't want to be associated with them. So their talent pool consists of a very specific demographic of people not especially known for their basketball skills.
