I'm not afraid of them, I'm afraid of the fact that they need guns, if everyone needs a gun then theres a massive problem, that's where the fear comes from my friend. That and I've seen what your law abiding citizens get up to in the news!

Everyone does not "need" a gun. Everyone has the right to decide what their own needs are.

I don't "need" my umbrella insurance policy. I do not pay for it out of fear either. It is simply a hedge against something unlikely happening in the future. My gun is the exact same thing as my umbrella insurance policy except my gun was cheaper (over time at least).

I also have this thing against paper. Perhaps I got a really traumatic paper cut when I was young or something but I have a blast going to the range and fucking some paper up. So I also get an entertainment value out of my guns as do a ton of other people I know.

OK cool, no one here needs a gun. I've spoken to people in this thread who are either paranoid or they genuinely feel that they are not safe without a gun, I couldn't live like that, if your country is that unsafe; get a gun, or move.

I guess the lack of safety is just something you have to put up with to live in america, the same as people in Iraq put up with it to stay with their families or something.

Except for maybe the 230ish women that are raped every day in the UK...

America is a big country, there are safe areas and there are not so safe areas.

Like any country, people CAN get access to things that allow them to use deadly force against you, even if guns are banned. Knives, bats, etc

I, for one, am glad I live in a country that safeguards my right to self-defense even with a deadly weapon. The government can never take that away from us. You can keep your gun bans, thank you.

No lol for me, the last thing you want someone who is fragile, upset and on edge carrying is a live gun.

I believe he was suggesting that they have the gun BEFORE they're raped. That way no rape occurs, but a dead bad guy is produced.

If you read back I accepted that you guys need guns, big ones, because you haven't yet set up a competent government or police system, your country is relatively new and naive that's why you're at where your at. You guys need guns because your country can't defend it's citizens with the legal systems put in place, I understand that now, if I lived in the US I'd be armed to the teeth.

Good, so is this discussion over? Everyone can go off to other threads? Our system creates a need for firearms, we like our system that way. You think we're backwards. My sister\wife and I are mildly offended that you look down your English nose at us, but we'll get over it.

It's not my fault I pity you, I just feel bad that in the modern world you guys live like that, when your society is as old as ours I'm sure things will be different for you.

Why? Are you so concerned with the way we're living? We're a lost cause brother. Just like Afghanistan or Somalia. We're too backwards and entrenched in our thought pattern to change. You should just put us out of your mind. I suggest you start here.

I'll try I just feel sad for you.

Take guns people of ill repute will just use something else. A wine bottle filled with gasoline would have killed a lot more people that nut in Arizona was trying to kill. A bomb made with materials under your sink even more. A car driven through the crowd more. and so on and so forth

The gun is just equalizer which stops old men from being robbed, women from being raped just because someone is bigger stronger faster. Gun says "no he didn't"

Europeans have guns so I don't even know what you're talking about. There are hunters in England. In Switzerland when i was there people were going to a shooting festival. I was actually scared little bitch like you are being a kid and all and seeing all these people tote guns around on the way. My mom is like it's a shooting festival don't worry son. My cousins in Sweden have guns. I have a friend in Austria who has guns. I'm going hunting with him sometime this year. Are you English? Or a migrant from some third world shithole with police state? It's the only way you can't recognize Europe has a rich gun culture and be so ignorant to it..

Don't feel sorry for me. I love freedom. Hunting. Three gunning. I don't really carry a gun though even though I'm entitled. I live in a good area like most Americans and have no worries.

No I just dislike the idea of living in a town where every other person has a gun in their pocket! The very notion is insane, and if disarming law abiding citizens will in the short term cost lives, but in the long term remove guns from the streets, then it's a necessary evil.

So, you're in favor of causing innocent lives to be lost due to your irrational fear of guns. Got it.

Exactly the last thing you want is rape victims carrying guns.

Perhaps but exactly what you DO want is potentially soon to be rape victims carrying guns so that they do not become actual rape victims. That is kinda the point.

Edit: Or perhaps your point is the woman getting raped is simply a "necessary evil" of ensuring that the rapist survives the encounter?

Speech is speech, all speech is the same, all guns aren't.

no, in reality all speech is not.

Saying you THINK so and so is a child molester is different than saying you KNOW so and so is a child molester.

Yelling FIRE in a crowded room to create a panic is also different than standing on a soap box talking about a topic.

I'm sure your little vote changes the world, you are just and idiot who thinks he's more important than he is, of course that's just me flapping my gums, it's an opinion that means as much as everything you post on here.

His vote, my vote, and the millions of others in this country who's vote opinions count, unlike yours, and that think shitbags like you are sheep.

I have to ask, why do you guys need automatic weapons, lets just take as red for now that america wants it's guns, fine, but I can see the argument that you want to defend your self, but do you guys need something automatic for that? I don't think so. Do you guys need them for hunting? That's not good hunting. So what's it all about?

Because we can, and because we want them, and because there is absolutely no reason why a law-abiding American shouldn't be able to have one if they want one.

OK so in 19 pages we have been told that Obama isnt trying to ban guns but he is looking into banning the 30 round magazines. Why cant we discuss the merits of this issue without talking about banning all guns (something no one is talking about)

No he isn't. He is looking into making future imports and manufacturing of high cap. mags illegal. All currently owned will be grandfathered in which means that it would have cost $50 for the asshat in Arizona to purchase one instead of $10.

So I guess the debate you wish to have is if a batshit crazy asshole hell bent on killing people will be willing to pay $50 instead of $10. What say you?
