Oh, you could start with a fearmongering campaign full of lies. "Pull the plug on Granndma" ring a bell?

This is what keeps pushing me away from the Republican Party. It's not just that the leadership is a bunch of lying and destructive slime balls -- both parties have that. It's that the party rank and file seem to celebrate the sliminess instead of being ashamed of it. You're proud of the way you drag America down.

lol, one must be willingly blind to ignore the same thing from the D / lib party.

Are you seriously suggesting that the democrats lob the same amount of slime as the republicans?

The fuck they dont lol

McCain's ads were more than 80% negative. Obama's were just over 50%. So how about the truthfullness of them?

Boy there sure is a lot more truth to the McCain ones.

Who had been pissing themselves over "zeee public option" for the last few weeks--going to town halls and catching the vapours?

I blame the illegals!

That's fucking stupid. I hate the idea of people going bankrupt from health care costs. I hate the idea of people being denied care for getting sick. I hate the idea of American business being burdened by health care costs. The American idea of access to health care is a sick joke at best and its an albatross on our economy.

And we know how the real world works. See Western Europe. See Canada. See Japan. See Australia. All of these systems work better than ours. They're not perfect, but they cover everyone.

I guess he's forgotten the lies about how the GOP is going to take old people's SS (theyve gotten alot of mileage on that)...or how Bush stole the election from Gore in the courts...when in fact it was GORE who requested a recount in the courts (lol) it goes on and on. I was an active Democrat for 20+ years before I woke the fuck up and realized they are the most hateful slanderous party in America. Next to the KKK that is.

If social security privatization had gone through this economic collapse would have destroyed it, which was the goal all along. Bush DID steal the election. Good job.

I think w/o a public option at least this isn't enough "reform" to really reform the system. It will leave the problem intact for the Republicans to say "look at all the money they spent and didn't fix the problem" next election cycle. Way to continue the legacy of ineffectiveness Dems. Enjoy those insurance co. bribes when you're retired in 2010.

Pretty much. I would like to pay into a government option, and I currently have what's probably one of the best health insurance deals available. Let's chalk it up to my self-abusive altruistic solialist-communist tendencies.

Without a radical re-structuring (which the public option would represent simply in terms of competition), the passing of this bill will only mean that EVERYONE is now mandated to line insurance CEO's pockets.

In the end, the repuglicans will get to say "We told you so," and their friends and contributors will be that much richer. Dear fucking democrats: PLZ grow balls. PLZ.

I certainly won't pretend to know more than you about "willful blindness." You are the poster boy, after all. I will point out that you're dodging the subject which is how the GOP can be blamed for this. What do you always call anyone who disagrees with you and doesn't respond in exactly the way you think they should? Oh, that's right, Troll.

So tell me TROLLsortaGUY, where have you denounced Republicans like Palin and Grassley for lying out their asses to scare Americans? Where have you berated them for stooping to divisive, purely partisan bullshit like "Pulling the plug on Grandma?" Where have you EVER shown you have enough integrity or love for America to call out the RNC for their lies and destructive demagoguery (as opposed to "bu.. bu.. but Clinton" and "Yeah, well Libs are evil")? You and Black "Blatantly Lies" Angst are exactly the kind of partisan cheerleaders I was talking about. You should be ashamed of yourselves ... but you aren't because your moral code is an extremely myopic rationalization that the only things that matter are whatever is best for you personally and for you so-called "Party of Values."

This has little to do with health care and everything to do with your representative getting re-elected.

The "change" has not come to Washington yet.

If Dr. Wilder Penfield (were he still alive) came to you and said hey...bowfinger...thats not a brain in your head, its a fucking tumor...you would continue to think it was a brain. Perhaps meds might help you, because the truth certainly doesnt.

If you honestly think the GOp is responsible for the Dems in Congress not having the votes, well...youre more fucked up than originally thought. What they cant think for themselves? WTF? The Dems are at the helm, dumbass, and if they cant pass something, its THEIR fault. Unfortunately the Dems cant tell their ass from a hole in the ground, so its no wonder theres no support.

Why can't people JUST admit the current plan on the table is a BAD one? IF the plan is so good and perfect, why are the democrat themselves fighting over it. Also, IF the plan is a good one, the democrat shouldn't have the worry about the reelection if they pass it.

No, not dodging at all. I was addressing your willingly ignorant comment. Sorry you can't handle someone calling you out on your BS.

If you would have paid attention to last fall you twit - I was NOT supporting the GOP. I did NOT vote for McCain and have railed against much of what the GOP has done to water themselves down and abandoning Conservatism. But again, likely due to your willing ignorance you start spouting before thinking.
Lying? You want to whine about grassley? How about you look at your boy BHO and his lies about this supposed "reform". Do you forget the era when you and your lib comrades were whining about grandma eating dog food? Nah, you forget or apologize for the BS your side does just so you can make yourself feel better about supporting your pile of shit. I really don't care - I didn't and still don't support either pile of shit right now. I hope the GOP can get it's act together soon so I can actually support them, but time will tell.

The left, and Obama should be blamed for their failure, but Republicans, Blue Dogs, free market libertarians, and any other corporate shills that I missed, are in no position do to the blaming.

I would like to learn the details of the proposed "non-profit co-ops." Depending on how they are implemented, they could be the most democratic option, with the same bargaining power as big business but less overhead. Or, more likely, a they will be a health-care ghetto for the previously uninsured, persons with pre-existing conditions, and those otherwise unprofitable for private health insurers. The former would be a great victory for the American people. The latter would be shitty, overpriced care, just like the current system.

Sadly, I don't think that the "public option" really stood a chance of passing. There are just way too many people running the health insurance and drug industries with deep pockets who wanted it to fail, and they bought just enough moderate votes and negative PR to make it happen. :|

I'm curious what the new "co-op" alternative is going to be, though... At a minimum, I hope that it outlaws denying claims for pre-existing conditions, considering that both Republicans and Democrats were promising that reform during the 2008 campaign.

But I'm not a Democrat, sweetie, and I often criticize the Democratic Party ... including in my first comment in this very thread. I am independent, and over the years I've voted pretty comparably for D's and R's, with at least as many votes going to third-party candidates. The only time I've even come close to voting party line was in 2004, when I found the BushCo Republican rule so repugnant and so destructive to America that I felt they needed to go across the board.

As far as admitting when one is wrong, I've done so here many times. At the other end of the spectrum, Sir Cad never, ever, ever admits he is wrong about anything. While he often denied it, he was also unable to produce a link showing even one example of him acknowledging error. (Well. other than one lame attempt where he claimed a comment like, "I was wrong to believe you could be reasonable" was an admission of error. Hardly.) You say you've admitted to being wrong. Care to show us where and when? It would certainly improve my opinion of you. Being able to admit error is a mark of character and maturity in my book. For example, you could go back to the thread with "your" list of Health bill problems, directly admit you lifted it from another source, and apologize.

Perhaps meds might help you, because the truth certainly doesnt.
On the contrary, truth has been quite helpful to me. I've tried to make it a cornerstone of my life. You might find truth to be a boon to you as well. Try it.

And he huffs and he puffs and he spits out a bullshit straw man to avoid acknowledging the slimy behavior of his heroes at the RNC. The issue is not what the Dems CAN pass. It's what they have the political will to pass in the face of inflamed public opposition. What is fueling this opposition? There are many causes, of course, and many of them have some basis in truth, but the single biggest factor by far is the dishonest fear mongering and general disinformation campaign of the RNC and its shills. The Democrats in Congress, generally being a bunch of cowardly, power-hungry weasels too, aren't comfortable standing up to such public outcry. It would mean sticking their necks out, and it's so easier to capitulate and let the RNC corporate whores screw America again.

That's not to suggest the Health proposals floating around Congress are perfect. Far from it. Unfortunately for America, however, the GOP's swift boat tactics have drowned out any attempts at reasoned and constructive debate. Instead we get despicable lies about "pulling the plug on Grandma" which a whole bunch of slow-witted Americans swallow, having learned not a damned thing from the lies of the previous eight years.

What's up with the "with us/against us" mentality? It has always been prevalent around here and I have trouble understanding why. Just because someone is against an ideal you are for does not mean they are on "THE" other team. It just means they disagree with you. Consider that some Dems are even against this proposal therefore just because you disagree does not mean that you are a neocon... unless the liberal fanatics have fallen so far to the left that anything to their right is neocon-ish?
