left handed - pointy end threads to the left, comes back around from the right to meet the bukle.

Top View: counterclockwise.

To the left for me, because that's how I first did it as a little kid. I've wondered several times over the years whether there was a "right" and a "wrong" way to do it.

Well, leave it up to the army to have a designated standard. Lucky me, looks like I've been doing it right all along. :D

Is this like shirt buttons? Left for the guys, and right for the gals? Lemme go check with the wife.

to the right for me...but this is just an old habit, no real reason why I keep wearing it that way.

a man's belt goes counter-clockwise and a woman's belt goes clockwise. Just like the buttons on mens shirts are on the right and woman's are on the left.

Guess I've been wearing it wrong all my life. I've always threaded it counterclockwise around me. Oh well.

I buy extra long belts so that it points down. I've always liked the casual cool from having the belt tail point down at least 4 inches, especially formal situations.

Is that 4 inches to compensate for something...

off to the right... which is contrary to whatever is below it...

I've always worn my belt to the left. I've also heard before that girls are supposed to wear their belt to the right. Is this really true? I think I'll keep wearing it to the left anyways, right seems weird.

Also, if the left-for-guys, right-for-girls thing is really true, and Frosty's 'Dockers' label is upside down when he wears it to the left, maybe it's a woman's belt?? :Q:D;)

This happens with my favorite belt, so I just take the buckle off and turn it around. :)

I too have heard the girls-to-the-right thing, from my dad (who taught me how to wear a belt when I was little). Since their buttons are on the other hem of the shirt and all, it could make sense. I'll have to ask.

As for long belts, I'm not a huge fan. If I happen to have an overly long belt, I'll wear it casually, but I hate belts hanging down, or threaded way off to the side, with formal wear. I don't know why!

So if I may ask, what is the difference between girls' and guys' buttons? I've never noticed this before.

I always put mine left too, but I think it might be because I'm right handed and lead with my right hand. I would think that the
left handed would put on a belt the other way leading with their left hand. Just a guess though....
Yup, I'm left-handed and I thread my belt clockwise.

I'm left-handed and the tail goes to the right. Putting it any other way is just giving in to the majority right handers. As for why buttons are the way they are, I have never heard of an explaination for that. Could it be that they are that way so when you unbutton someone of the opposite sex, it would be normal.

No, like most of life, the belt goes in towards the left, but comes out on the right. :p

Left.

The button thing dates back to olden-days, when a man could unbutton his coat with his left hand and use the right to draw a sword.

And then he could also unbutton a womens coat, while holding a sword to her with his right hand. Now it all makes sense :)
