My uniform has a company logo on the buckle. Only correct when inserted counter-clockwise.

My mother once pre-threaded my belt on a pair of pants I was going to wear the next day. That was when I realized that there was a backwards and normal way to do it ;)

I've always put the belt tip to the left. I got into a heated discussion with my wife one day about it. I said it should always go left and she said it can go either way. Who knows, maybe women's belts do go either way.

As for the button question, women's shirts (and pants) often will be on either side. Historically, they were reversed so that women could be dressed more easilly by servants. However with the surge of women wearing men's clothing, manufacturers have started putting the buttons on either side without any rhyme or reason. My wife complains to me about once a month about something with the buttons/zipper on the wrong side.

That's what I do.

My gf says she does her belts the same way.

Men's and women's buttons are different because when buttons were invented, they were expensive and used primarily by the rich. Women of the upper classes seldom dressed themselves, while the men of the upper classes usually dressed themselves.

Women's buttons were reversed to help servents dress them more easily. A good thing since back then, a woman's buttons were almost always on the BACK of her dress.

Either way, the buttons were designed to cater to right handed people and the custom carried over to all clothing for all classes.

I have always worn, and thought, that as a guy my belt tail should go off to the left... just taking my belt off today I noticed that the 'Dockers' label is printed so that, when upright, the belt tail would go to the right.

Have I been wrong all this time, or is the label just upside-down/non-representative?

Sorry.. I am bored.

Maybe the point of the label is so you can read it when you look down at the belt... I agree with everyone else that it should go to the left.

Excepts it is on the inside of the belt, where it would be in the middle of my back.

Hmm, but if you wore it inside out and started it from the back, then it'd appear correct to anyone facing you....
