overrated: CA <~ LA is the ugliest city with the most obnoxious people ever.
Fullfilled Expectations: NY(C)
underrated: Washington, Washington DC, Maryland, Maine, Vermont, Virginia, Oregon, Colorado, Missouri, Illinois,

Overrated: Any hick state

Underrated: NJ. Just because NY stuck its refineries across their borders, it gets a bad rep. Also garbage tv shows.. but really, if you watch those tv shows, you are pretty much garbage yourself, and therefore your opinion is pretty meaningless. You have beautiful parks, plenty of attractions, and access to 2 great cities.

Highest taxes in the country, very limited left turns, very limited u-turns, poorly engineered and thought out roads and you can't pump your own fucking gas.

Yeah, NJ is just peachy.

Sometimes you have to pay for quality. I learned that from living in the shithole hick state that is florida. Some areas have some getting used to for navigation but you are obviously stretching.

Some other benefits are that nj health insurance HAS to cover pre existing conditions.

We also get the least fed tax dollars because we have to prop up the fundie hicks and their bootstrappiness.

I've driven around NJ enough to know that I am not stretching it. NJ is far from "quality".

To the ones saying California is "Overrated". Have you ever been there? I lived in SoCal for 2 years and it was amazing

I have been to California numerous times. I love the state as a whole, but I'd say places like LA are incredibly overrated and terrible. I'd also say parts of California are incredibly underrated (like the central coast area around Monterey and Big Sur). San Diego is nice, as is San Francisco.

In the overrated category, I'd probably throw in Florida as well, though I do enjoy Tampa.

Underrated: Indiana, New Hampshire, Tennessee, North Carolina (even though I haven't been there in almost 30 years, so it may have changed)

Overrated; Texas - no one cares about how big you think your balls are.

Also, hate on NYC all you want, just don't come back again. There are enough people here.

NYC is definitely overrated. Upstate is underrated.

How do you figure? We took a vacation driving along the east coast last year and ended up staying in NYC for a week because it was so cool, and we STILL didn't get to do everything we wanted. I can see why people want to live there, but maybe the fast pace of everything gets old after a while.

overrated: entire left coast, minus arizona.
underrated: Florida, Georgia, N&S Carolina

So you are a liberal trying to insult conservatives right....

Otherwise you have proven every stereotype I have ever experienced regarding stupid as dirt conservatives.

I like Minnesota. I grew up here. Only lived here and Colordao, and MN is by far better than CO. That said, I didn't care for either NY or CA when I have visited. But if you watch any news or TV, thats all you hear about NY and CA, so I vote those most overrated.

On the other hand, I believe the Idaho, Wyoming, West Montana would be the most underrated. I have not visited any of those, just checked them out on Wiki, and looked up pictures. Have no idea if I would like it or not, but it seems nice.

Ca is a big time overrated.

Having earthquakes, mudslides and wild fires every year it seems and the fact you have LA also brings it down big times.
Small earthquakes that do little to no damage with no loss of life are plenty. Mudslides aren't unique to California and the only infamous one is the one where an entire hillside slid down and buried an entire area a few years back. I'll agree with you on the wildfires. The ironic thing is that not letting the fire burn all the dead crap every year increases the potential danger of when a fire does breakout later. I love how all the idiots that choose to live in the fire prone areas expect everyone else to pay for the firemen to come save their ass - especially the idiots that refuse to leave their house.

I know nothing about Delaware. Nothing. Ok, maybe I once heard it had something to do with potatoes?

I mean, even Minnestota and the Dakotas get more airtime.

Has anything ever happened there? Does it have any famous sons/daughters?

Home of corporations and banks. Really friendly taxes and laws for those incorporated there.

Ouch

I'm the first to admit that I can't spell; but what's sao's explanation for Arizona being of any kind of coast, much less calling the McCain voting state a left-coast state?

Over - California
Under - Wyoming - too often I forget the state is there, I never hear anything about them

Overrated: California
Underrated: Alaska

See I think Alaska is OVERrated. But it could be because I lived there for so long. I don't know how it could be underrated... every show on cable is about Alaska. Deadliest Catch, State Troopers, Flying Alaska, Ice Road Truckers, Tougher in Alaska, Gold Rush, Bigger in Alaska, Palin's Alaska... and there's probably a few more that I can't think of right now.

It's overrated.
