I can't believe I'm the only NC fan.

The Outerbanks area is probably the best vacation spot in the US. Plus there is Kitty Hawk and Roanoke for us history nerds.

You really base your opinion of a city off a fictional TV show? Seriously?
He is from another country and may have never been to the US. How else is he going to base his opinion??

What is your opinion of China or Japan and how did you reach that opinion?

Totally agree on this. OBX are awesome. I don't know why the entire world doesn't flock there. So beautiful, perfect ocean, awesome weather.

I reach my opinion on other countries more on news, people that I know that have been there, and things that I can get from factual sources more than what I get from a TV show that is openly fiction. It's not like I'm basing my opinion of Japan off Anime.

California is underrated. Awesome beaches, beautiful national parks and forests, places to ski and snowboard, awesome night life, hot women, agriculture capital, tech capital, porn capital, etc. It does have its downsides such as traffic congestion, gangs, illegal immigrants.

california: greatly overrated. Use to be the golden state. Now it's the green slime state.
?????: underrated. But I'm not gona name it. Don't want you guys showing up there.

I don't see why people are saying upstate NY is underrated... I suppose the rural areas are nice, but any of the more major cities (Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, Watertown) are shitholes. I agree that OBX is underrated, but I don't know if I'd want to live there... It is a nice vacation spot though.

Overrated: Cali
Under: Louisiana - mother of god, the food.
Most unnecessarily hated: Texas, of course. Go to Austin, you generalizing fuck.s

Overrated: Every state north-east of Maryland

Underrated: Texas All I hear is people hating on Texas for the cowboy image.

California is most UNDERrated.

It's by far the most diverse state geographically, with low point (Death Valley) in sight of high point among the contiguous 48 (Mt. Whitney), snow like upstate NY, desert like AZ, rain forest like Milford Sound NZ (Cascades), islands, oldest trees, huge waterfalls, zoological and botanical diversity like no place else, etc....just absolutely magnificent physical beauty all over.

The intellectual environment may be highest too: Caltech, UCLA, UC Berkeley, Stanford, SIlicon Valley, etc. One of the big things in Texas is to work on convincing California companies to move to Texas.

California USED to have the absolute best public education system in the entire world, envy of the earth. Alas, the Democrats got hold of it and now it's socially-engineered shit. Also, alas, California is the dumping ground for the peasant class which Mexico has been aggressively exporting.

California has the best climate too. Live on the beach with NO humidity.

I've traveled probably more than most people and have really seen it all....there's no place better than California. Switzerland? no. New Zealand? no.

But the politics has ruined California over past 20 years, nmaybe we'll recover maybe not.

There are some negatives too, like all the low-morals animal-level scum from distant FOREIGN places like New York & elsewhere who move into Hollyweird and make movies & TV. That garbage has NOTHING to do with the people of California.

I also think that, speaking in broad averages, in general the people in California are more spiritually minded than most the rest of the USA.

Really too bad mexico's peasant class has overrun California like an ant swarm, and our presidents have utterly failed to defend the border. We DON'T WANT o merge with mexico. THe negative of supporting their millions of peasants outweighs, by far, any positive prospect of getting mexico's resources.

Politics has/is ruining the paradise that is California.

CA was a whole lot awesomer about 15 years ago. Recently its turned into a dumping ground for society's rejects and the taxes it takes to support them is driving the normal people out. Still, it beats out 95% of the rest of the country.

330 days of sunshine in socal = "yet another frigging sunny day" is really no weather to me.

yeah, sucks that we get to do outdoorsy stuff pretty much 12 months out of the year. Oh wait, no it doesn't.

And So Cal gets snow with a 1.5 hour drive from LA if you want it.

tbh i think Jersey is underrated. I know it's mostly shit but it's surrounded by the great state of NY and Penn, that's got to make up for it.

Overrated: Any hick state

Underrated: NJ. Just because NY stuck its refineries across their borders, it gets a bad rep. Also garbage tv shows.. but really, if you watch those tv shows, you are pretty much garbage yourself, and therefore your opinion is pretty meaningless. You have beautiful parks, plenty of attractions, and access to 2 great cities.

To the ones saying California is "Overrated". Have you ever been there? I lived in SoCal for 2 years and it was amazing

Ca is a big time overrated.

Having earthquakes, mudslides and wild fires every year it seems and the fact you have LA also brings it down big times.

It's impossible for California to be overrated, that's like saying Bacon's overrated. While Cali does have some fail parts, every state does. And what's good in Cali is about 50 times above what any other state has.

I've spent 99% of my life in Cali, and I take my vacations in other parts of California.
