The modern left holds that today's America is irredeemably racist, misogynistic, homophobic, and exploitative of the proletariat. You should be welcoming the Russian takeover of the partriachal plutocracy and the coming golden age of socialistic brotherhood of each according their ability/need.
No they don't.

I think that
1) it's hard to learn about all the issues a place has from just one visit (a typical hospital can have 20-30 departments alone each with its own hierarchy, staff, strengths and weaknesses)
2) the Phoenix situation with the colonoscopy delays is really way oversimplified and a lot of factors were at play

1.) One visit? McCain allegedly regularly visited the place regularly (can't recall the actual number, think one year, maybe the year the scandal broke or the year before the scandal broke he claimed to have visited it like 10 times - he fucking tried to brag about how often he checked up on the VA hospital). Which holy shit even if you believe it was just one visit that screams lip service just as much.
2.) Yet that's enough for McCain to criticize Obama over it and expect him to magically fix the problem? You know McCain put the blame on Obama, right? While I have no doubt it was more complex than the talking points, if McCain was incapable of understanding that situation, he should not have been serving as a senator and sure as shit had no business running for President. He tried to absolve himself of blame and use it as a political weapon. Somehow Obama, a former senator of Illinois should have been more aware of the Phoenix VA issues than McCain, an active Senator of Arizona? Plus, Obama tried to help the situation by trying to get us public health care option which would have helped expand health care substantially, and likely would have meant veterans wouldn't be stuck fucked by wait times at VA hospitals. Then the Republicans went insane and just screamed "death panels" for years.
