That said, what in the hell is wrong with the iPod? It's a great MP3 player. Sure, it's a bit expensive, but so are most other Apple products. And, unlike Paris Hilton, it's actually useful.

I wanted to say Cell Phones but those have been around for a lot longer than 5 years.
And (much as I dislike it) they arent really a fad anymore, they are a way of life.

American Idol. Lamest show in the world. Basically the record industry has found a way to get the television audience to do their work for them, and they make money off of the tv show while thats happening as well. That show is win win for the music industry. You've got the advertisements during the show, you've got the 10 finalists who are guarranteed to sell millions of albums because America has picked them, the contract the contestants sign guarrantee a huge chunk of the money they make from their first album goes to American Idol as well. Whoever thought that show up was a genius, but I sure as hell won't help him out by watching it and calling in and voting.

throws people off in public when theres not a phone near

<rant>95% of the time a ringer is overkill, which is why i set my phone to vibrate 95% of the time. i can't stand ppls ****** phone ringing in public be it ring tone or not. the only time i can justify setting a ringer is when the phone isn't attached to your body or right next to you. sigh, ppl are such idiots.</rant>

Totally agree. I've had my Samsung A950 since it first came out in 2005 and it's NEVER been on a ringtone. Always vibrate. ONly time music comes from it is when I'm listening to music from the MP3 player .....

It's not the iPod itself, but instead Apple's marketing campaign. The general populous seems to be convinced that iPods are the best and that there are no alternatives. So people waste a lot of money on an iPod just because iPods are "cool" and everyone else has one.

Smoking ...why can't people get it into their heads that smoking kills? It's not enough that they've banned smoking in restaurants and bars..they need to ban smoking, period. kthx.

Tanning ....girls who think they're more attractive when they're dark. Even tho the tanning thing is started to phase out a bit due to skin cancer warnings all over the place...there are still girls out there who tan their asses off hoping for a dark "exotic" look. They have no idea how dumb they really look.

American Idol ....if they can cut out the stuff after the auditions I'd watch it every season. I dont care who makes it to semi-finals, i dont care who wins..i just wanna see people make fools of themselves on national television.

and last but not least ....World of Warcraft. I kinda have a love/hate relationship with the game..but when a guy (or girl) lives, breathes, sleeps, dreams the game...i quickly swich over to the "hate" team. Nothing worse than hearing a conversation that goes: "my shaman can kick your mage's butt cause he's got so and so buff and so and so gear". ARGH!!!!!
