Which coast is the best overall?

I actually agree with you there. It would be nice to have a home in Vermont or Maine or even upstate NY for the summer/fall and live in CA the rest of the time. I miss the autumn in upstate NY more than anything. It's absolutely beautiful there that time of year.

man, I didn't say I've never left the bay. Been to the entire west cost, from LA to Vancouver. as far as travelling to the east side, I believe Colorado is as far as I got.

By the way, I've only been in San Jose for a few year. I grew up in SF.

I would never live on the West Coast.

The majority of places are overpopulated, overrated and expensive.

EAST - Some of you people might want to look into Hilton Head, St. Petersburg or various other smaller cities on the coast. You don't have to focus on NYC/Boston and the larger cities.

Additionally, people on the east coast are nicer. The attitude and atmosphere is just more laid back.

East = Hurricanes - Generally only major if you live in FL or the Gulf. Living higher up on the coast leaves you very little to worry about. These are also seasonal and you know when they are going to strike. You have the ability to RUN if you need to ahead of time.

West = Earthquakes. No warning. Year Round. Tremors happen at will. Not to mention the forest fires and mud slides that are famous.

Overall, I feel the East coast is a nicer place to live if you pick the right spot. Not to say West coast isn't nice, but the East has more +'s.

There sure are gorgeous areas in the midwest...mostly upstate Michigan and Wisconsin, imo....and factor in the relatively cheap cost of living. Detroit and Chicago are too much slum, crime and traffic. At least Chicago has some culture, Detroit is just......I hate that city so much. Minneapolis/St. Paul has some decent culture but not much else interesting going for it (in terms of geography/topography), but atleast it's driveable to the BWCA. Milwaukee is easily the best city in the Midwest to live in, imo.

Bay Area > Alll. You haven't missed out on much by not going out.

East coast has mosquitos galore to whoever said there's more on the West Coast. CA has dry weather. That's not mosquito weather. East coast = humid. Mosquitos. /thread.

The Emerald coast in Pensacola, FL has better beaches for swimming than the Hawaii. Water is warmer and cleaner. Sand is crystal white and soft.
