Which car to get?

i agree with sudheer, you never know when you'll need money. better off shelling off a small amount of a reliable but decent vehicle and saving the rest for something practical. a 25K car will cost you quite a bit for upkeep(oil changes, tires, routine maintence)/gas/insurance which should be very high for a 17 year old/raised insurance after an accident(very likely no matter what you say now)/repairs, etc. not worth the work effort unless you have much higher wages then i'm guessing.

Ill be a supervisor in a month pulling 20/hour, so if we could get off the age issue and get back to the issue at hand.

<< Finally somebody understands. Im not worried about paying for college or anything, I can get a free ride at most of the mid level schools. >>

lemme guess.. you have a job lined up, a family planned, a house bout, and a retirement plan in place too?

ok, i guess i'll take the other side then, life is short, you might get tboned a block from the dealer and die😛

RSX/WRX 🙂

So are you all saying a 17 yr old that is given a 25k car is ok while it is not ok for a 17 yr old to buy one?

I think a 17yr old should be given mad props for saving his money for a car.

Since you are in the 4 door with a lot of power kind of cars:

Acura CL Type S.
Pontiac Supercharged GTP
Subaru WRX (I passed on it, it was fugly, my opinion though)

ill comment on the altima since its the one that ive test driven. the 3.5L engine is ok. nothing phenomenal about it. its got some power but nothing that will blow your socks off. the exterior looks great. the interior sucks. for 25k it should be a lot better. my friends civic has a better interior. it looks ok, just feels cheap and plasticy when you start playing with nobs and doors. i was really disappointed. overall id say the car is over priced. ive driven a 96 maxima and it was nice. but dont know about the new ones. cant believe you wanna spend 25k on a sedan though. but thats up to you. good luck!

So Im geared towards:

new altima
used maxima
used CL S
used TL S

I really dislike the WRX and RSX though. I might like a used A4 if its within the price range.

Curious on why a used Maxima? The dealers will budge more on a Maxima than an Altima, since altima sales are hitting the roof. I think they offer cheap interest rates for the Maximas also.
