hrmm.. i didnt know a weird noise = new car time... maybe if it was 3k to repair the car... but it still runs.. run it.. also a weak reason.. just say.. i wanna 25,000 dollar toy...

I know it's your decision, but I have to agree w/ the people are advising you to not buy a new car. Anothe rthing I might add is that are inexperienced, so how will you know if actually do enjoy the car? When you start driving, you really have idea what good handling is or any of that other stuff. To a new driver, all cars perform good. Also, when you go to buy the car, most dealers will not let you test drive the car alone if you are under 18.

The g/f and I took out an '02 Altima SE and I agree that it's a great car. My biggest complaints were with the dash and the air vents. The dash was sort of hokey looking and just didn't work with the car. The airvents were small, hard to reach, and felt cheap. Besides those though, it was a solid car. Unparalleled seating space for its class, unmatched power, and pretty sharp looking from the outside.

One warning though - you said you wanted leather. Well, to get leather you have to get a couple other options and once you start tacking on a bunch of options, the price skyrockets up to close to 29k. Factor in TT&L and the car is now $30,000.

You may actually wind up getting a better deal with the options you want with a Maxima. The Altimas are the hot items on the Nissan lots and dealers are having problems getting rid of the Maximas.

Basic difference between the Maxima and altima are the following
More power on Maxima. 255 vs 240 in the altima
Available 6 speed manual on the Max (don't know if they are shipping yet though)
Max is a longer car

<< Plus right now Im getting 11 bucks an hour to sit on my ass all day and take an occasional verbal thrashing from customers, so its really good pay. I usually take home 2k a month after taxes. >>

2k/mo after taxes on $11/hr w/ 40hr work weeks? Are you stealing and filing exempt? 🙂

I make so much OT and Double OT..thats usually half my paycheck. Sometimes I work 15 hour shifts, a few days a week.

Maxima is only longer by an inch or so while the Altima is wider by an inch or so.

In regards to the packages skyrocketing with leather, it's sooo true. Thats why I went with a GTP, you get the works and everything for 25,xxx (MSRP 28,500). Bose on Maxima is another 500-1000 same with leather.

leather costs also, but th ething that sucks is that if you are going real fast, you better hold because leather does not grip well.

Im not sure how the package system works but I know as far as the website goes, you do have to get the stereo package too. Is there anyway at all around that with a dealer? Id rather put in my own sound since I get over half off on most audio stuff.

<< easy, throw out the social life 🙂 >>

Considering that most HS students go to school for 7 hours a day, you would get out at around 3pm. So, you would then work from 3pm until 11pm.
Hell, I can barely stand to work 2-4 hours a day the way it is. Although, I get to listen to metal and drink all of the free pop that I want. But, still! I enjoy having freetime every evening to work on my beloved motorcycle and other hobbies.

School from 6-12, work from 1-9 generally. However I usually get a few days off and work my longer shifts on the weekends.

so how many years have you been working? your 17, i don't think you can work 40 hours a week until your 18 hmm. must be a family business or something then.

well, I am 17 as well and my advice to you is to save your money and invest it. I know u worked ur ass off for that money and u wanna set it free, but i seriously think you should wisely invest it (so that you can take care of yourself and your kids later on in life). It's just a car and when your older and you have a better job you should probably start caring about the car that you want. I drive a crappy ass 96' accord and I personally don't give a crap about it. The only thing i spent money on was the bangin sound system i put in it. At 17 I think you shouldn't be so foolish and spend that massive amount of cash that you have.

Dude if i had a 96 accord, I wouldnt be looking for a new car. Its an 85 and its starting to fall apart, I hear itll be needing a new tranny soon.

man, if I were in your shoes I wouldn't blow $25K on a car @ 17. Save the money, and retire early, and just get a car to get your from point a to point b. or spend $10K on a nice car if you really want one, and save the rest.

He asked for you guys to help him pick out a car. He said he didn't want a used one. So everyone who keeps saying it's stupid to get a new car at his age should stop cuz he's already said that he wants a new car.

cuz to me.. spending 25k on a car at 17 is dumber then dropping out of high school.. i know i kcik myself for spending 50 bucks of hard earned money on stuff.. but 50 is a lot easier to get back then 25k

Finally somebody understands. Im not worried about paying for college or anything, I can get a free ride at most of the mid level schools.
