This actually works best. Make them an unrecognizable file type, then you have to manually choose the player each time it's viewed. For extra safety, change the file type again after viewing in case it shows up in history or something.

a) turn off file and folder history
b) vlc will attempt to open files that are dragged onto it. no need to choose anything. just open vlc and fap away.

Give them all jumbled random letters and numbers as filenames, then change all the extensions to a shared, meaningless extension, like .f0m. When you need to access the files again, use a batch renamer to convert all of your .f0m files to .mpg, or whatever the original extention is.

Edit: Are you hoping to stay safe until you find out which porn star is infected?

.f0m, seriously? Should be .fap

if you don't want to deal with encryption, simple misdirection is pretty effective. put everything within like 5 folders with random dead ends. try and make your directories seem fairly ordinary but a little cryptic to the average user.

e.g.

dir c:

games
apps
system
windows
ect.

dir system

UI
backup
defrag
dlls

dir defrag

sysconfig
datamine
androidpoon

dir androidpoon

HERE BE PORN! *crude but proud midi music sounds play from PC speaker*

What i do is hide the pr0n folder in a maze of folders, 5 deep. The chances of being found are very very low. Its all on my external, which is full of rarely used old files. If i give my external to a freind to get movies, i dont worry the pr0n it too deep. When hooked up to my mac ive set my quicksearch pref to NOT look at the external HDD for added security.

Nobody is finding my pr0n. Unless of course they go inside that terrible "recent files/recently closed" option which exists on Mac and PC. Thats a killer.

lots of options in here
http://social.technet.microsoft.com.../thread/ce998316-c210-4cdb-a38b-69be223a305f/

that completely kill the idea of mazes of folders.

edit: adn the recent files list can be killed with ccleaner.

just make an encrypted container with truecrypt?

even if someone sees it, they can't get into it. just label it tax returns or some other innocuous name that you'd want to protect, but noone would want to access.

hundreds of gigs of tax return file looks awfully suspicious

meh.

my porn sits in an encrypted file in the root directory of my largest hard drive. it's labelled something generic. if anyone asks what's in it, the proper response is "midget and donkey porn, obviously."

Create separate partition, place files there. Tell OS to not mount that partition on boot.

The woman who understands that will probably be ok with porn in the first place.

im still amazed people download and store porn

its not like its hard to find on the internet and simply stream

Another option is install vmware or other VM software, create a bunch of "lab VMs", make one of em a porn VM. Or if you want to be blunt, make one called "trucrypt test" which is a "test" vm to test out the FDE feature of truecrypt. Then hide the files in that VM.

When you find good stuff it's often safe to download it to keep it safe so when the fbi removes said site you still have a backup for when they come to your house to say hi.
