not trying to be a dick but i have never understood why people buy guns in 380 - just get 9mm...
for me it was price. and ive always had my eye on the gun i bought so i decided to buy it.

By that logic they should be buying 22 Short.

because most .380s are a hell of a lot smaller than 9mms?
9x17 vs 9x19...pressures that much different?
I meant the actual gun being smaller, not the round.

Where do you buy your ammo?
because 380 and 357 Magnum guns are usually interchangeable. well, you can't put 357 in a gun that only takes 380, but you know what i mean. i think that keeps 380 around still. although the prices are ridiculous so how long is that cartridge really going to last?
i usually buy at walmart, grab a few boxes whenever i'm in there. it's cheaper than buying bulk online most of the time, it's just harder to get it in quantity. i dont' shoot so much anymore, so it's not as big of a deal.

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!
.380 is not the same as .38 special. You can use .38 special in a .357 but not .380. You can't use .357 in a .38 special.
Prices are ridiculous because people are buying it all up. Supply and demand. Demand is high, supply is low, so the price is up. It's not going to go away any time soon.
Even my small frame 9 is hard to adequately conceal in the summer, my .380 fits well in the pocket and gets carried all the time. Better to have a .380 on you if needed than a 9mm sitting in the safe at home.
