not trying to be a dick but i have never understood why people buy guns in 380 - just get 9mm...

Even my small frame 9 is hard to adequately conceal in the summer, my .380 fits well in the pocket and gets carried all the time. Better to have a .380 on you if needed than a 9mm sitting in the safe at home.

Not to mention, you need to have weapons in every common caliber. Never know what caliber you're going to have available when the zombies come. What happens if you hole up in an abandoned house only to find that the owner only had .380 around before the zombies ate his brains?

If you were to buy local is best but there are some deals to be had online if you can trust the seller....:hmm:

sportsmansguide.com always has a good supply...

I meant the actual gun being smaller, not the round.

i understand that, but the round is not that much smaller dimensionally and haven't looked at pressures in a reloading manual atm

nevermind - found some pressures and that explains the smaller frame - 380auto = 21500 psi chamber, where regular 9mm = 35000 and 9mm+P = 38500psi

because 380 and 357 Magnum guns are usually interchangeable. well, you can't put 357 in a gun that only takes 380, but you know what i mean. i think that keeps 380 around still. although the prices are ridiculous so how long is that cartridge really going to last?

i usually buy at walmart, grab a few boxes whenever i'm in there. it's cheaper than buying bulk online most of the time, it's just harder to get it in quantity. i dont' shoot so much anymore, so it's not as big of a deal.

Walmart seems to be the cheapest for target shooting ammo (FMJ), so most of the time I buy from them, when I can find it in stock.

For personal protection rounds, I buy from who ever has the ammo I want in stock. Usually Bass Pro Shop or online.

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!

.380 is not the same as .38 special. You can use .38 special in a .357 but not .380. You can't use .357 in a .38 special.

Prices are ridiculous because people are buying it all up. Supply and demand. Demand is high, supply is low, so the price is up. It's not going to go away any time soon.

Anywhere I can find it.

But the majority of the time I get it from Walmart, Dicks, and Bass Pro Shops.

You are right, thanks for the correction. Then I agree, I don't know why anyone uses 380. Maybe just gun selection.

Local guy. He has pretty good prices and is good to work with. I would rather pay him a couple extra bucks to help keep the store open than buy online.

This. The LCP is so easy to conceal. If I had something much bigger I'd probably leave it at home more often.

Thanks for the input though guys, I'll keep checking locally.
