What places online are good?

Oh, and what's a good/reasonable price on 9mm?

<-- just getting into firearms and is in the process of doing research on it
I could have typed this exact post myself.

I just picked up two boxes of 9mm at Bass Pro Shops for $12.99 each. That's more expensive than what I'm seeing online, but if there's a shipping cost, what's the savings? BTW, store policy limits them to 2 boxes per customer.

Maybe I'm overlooking something?

Shooting range for pistol ammo, winchester white box is 5 dollars cheaper than sports authority/dicks for 50 rounds of .380. $20 vs $24.99+tax

For shotgun shells I usually go to sports authority, 3.50 a box for winchester target loads, $5 for 5 00 buck shot.

Wideners.com and midway I shoot about $1200 a month so I buy in bulk

Good thing about Wideners is they stock high pressure NATO loads all the time.

personally i buy in bulk, even if it is the same price or even a bit more when factoring in shipping. i haven't bought just a box in years, always buy by the case in 9mm, 45acp and 223/5.56, so that is the advantage of buying online - bulk and no bullshit. you may save a bit when you factor in a small possible savings per box, but you need to to counter in tax and whatever the shipping cost is. for me, the savings come to not much, not worth the trouble to be bothered w/ a 5box limit if i go through more than that per range trip or want to keep a decent supply on hand. when i go shooting i will usually order what i shot so there is never any need to go local...always like to keep at least 500rnds on hand per caliber of at least plinking ammo.

also, op - if you are going to shoot at indoor ranges, make sure you don't shoot any bi-metal type of ammo - if a magnet sticks to the bullet, at least in my neck of the woods, the range won't allow it to be shot - so verify if you buy some of the steel cased stuff there is not a bi-metal type bullet.

maybe somebody w/ a maget and some wolf 9mm can verify if indeed a magnet does stick....

Thanks for the info. I like the idea of buying in bulk.

Double tap ammo for my 10mm and a few other loads, and ammoman.com for pretty much everything else.

The 10mm equalizer ammo on doubletap is awesome stuff. 135g hollowpoint on top of a 95g lead ball. Lead ball always hits an inch higher than the bullet, great for a carry load.

all the .380 auto is sold out =[

I got a Ruger LCP for Christmas and really can't find .380 anywhere :(
Online is either sold out or ridiculously expensive. Calling my local stores and they say they haven't seen it for over 3 months. Argh.

I was in a small local shop the other day and they had 1 box of .380 for $33. i was like wtf???

Their .45 ammo was cheaper by about $9 a box! I was also confused because they had Wolf .45 ammo for about $3-4 more than the Winchester white box .45 ammo. Both were FMJ. Usually Wolf is cheaper.

maybe they bought the wolf when prices were higher from their distributor? assuming it was the steel case stuff no reason to use wolf over wwb since they both just plinking ammo, well actually i guess any fmj is considered plinking ammo when it comes to 45acp
