hey zakath... thanks man! we actually talked on the phone for about 2 hours tonight, stopped fighting and agreed to work things out-- so their may still be hope. at least i'll be feeling a little better before i go to bed.

i think being a boyscout / eagle scout was one of the best things i ever did. I learned more about being a leader, dealing with people, independence, self confidence, and had more fun than i ever did with anything else during the time that i was a scout. And how many people do you know can say they were an Eagle scout? not many.. its something that i feel doesnt get enoguh recognition in our society. Scouts is not dorky or stupid in anyway and anybody who makes fun of scouts is really just jealous that they dont know 30 ways to start a fire without a lighter.

Good luck with working things out. Long distance relationships suck, but they may actually be worth it.

Actually, this is a two edged sword. I don't know any women who are straight out honest with their men. They are all sneaky on some level and it makes me worry sometimes. Me and my boys feel like we're being hunted sometimes by you women.

Yoda291,
I am NOT the woman the man in my description needs. My personal flaws would fill a book. I am obviously a bit distraut about being in my mid-20's and never having met someone with whom I could fall in love. Are my standards too high? I hope not. What I am asking for is what was expected of most men only a generation or two ago.
Maybe I'll look around for an Eagle Scout.:)

Reminds me of the joke about the man looking for the perfect woman, when he found her there was only one problem: she was looking for the perfect man.

I think I'd be happy of he just wanted to be a man like I'm looking for. We could grow better together.

lol In my troop, there was only one way... lighter fluid... ;)

I've found that being an Eagle Scout is still something that gets a reaction out of older people (adults, I guess). I put it on college/scholarship/job apps and it always gets me at least a second-glance. Most Eagle Scouts aren't the guys who screwed around in boy scouts; they're the guys who always took charge, made decisions, and made things right if there was a problem.

I still think it's one of the best choices I've made in my life.

I got mine in 99, you?

lol I know. Just messin'. (I'm avoiding my calc homework...) Some of the coolest guys I knew were the guys who dropped out; conversely, I knew some pretty bad guys that got their Eagle badge. *shrug* Can't catch 'em all.

I haven't noticed you around all that much (mostly the last few days), but I can't help but wonder...

Have you made any threads that didn't mention your alcohol problem?

i got mine in january of 98, just after i turned 17.

<< lighter fluid >>

:D yes, we had many a fun night with lighter fluid.. or better yet, aresol spray and a lighter :D:D
i'm not going to lie, we had our more evil moments, but overall we were really good kids and had a great time. I was senior patrol leader for like 3 years in my troop.. i loved taking charge and being in the outdoors.

You're right. I am sooooooo jealous that I can't start a fire 30 different ways without a lighter (/sarcasm). However, I don't see that as useful knowledge (for me at least). I do think that scouts are dorky and stupid but if that's your thing go for it. I don't really care. You were a WEEBLOW (SP) THOUGH! WEEE BLOWWWW!!! HAHAHA!

Good point. I don't know. I guess it's on my mind a lot right now since my buddy mentioned it. I am sure I have said too much on these threads. Comes from boredom/lonliness.

One way or another, I suppose it's probably a good thing. It's a warning sign that can be seen from a mile away for all the horny geeks here who have 1) seen her picture and 2) find out she's a Citrix admin.

Unfortunately I think those two things may be enough to overcome the warning for many here.

Probably hiding in the same place as the real women?

:). I don't know Engine, the last time I went outside and gave my friend a hug (today), she sure seemed real. Maybe that's it? They're all hiding outside. The tricksters ! That's the last place we would ever think of looking. *shakes fist*. I mean, there's that big, orange-yellow spherical object out there.

No wonder I drink.

Sarah <== not a real prize either.

I love you Sarah. :)

and you are a prize, it's just that not everyone can appreciate the true value of things.

People love to hate themselves. They love misery. And they often seek out pain to be reminded how worthless they (think they) are. They do this because people usually do not know how to deal with pain. In your case, dealing with pain and hurt has turned into escape. To be able to sit and enjoy a state of drunkenness is one of the greatest things out there (I've tried it, I know). One can put away things... until it wears off and the 'ole feelings return, sometimes with a vengeance, like demons.

We all fight demons at some point. Some have larger ones and others are blessed with fewer and smaller ones. In this case, you ask where the real men are. All people seem real to me. Their foibles and weaknesses make them utterly and completely human, and this in turn makes them capable of loving. Much joy can be found in that, in the very things we think are flaws.

When we compare with another, real feelings of worth or lack of it can arise. In this comparison and separation, sometimes we think that this matters and so we are hurt since we are fragile. Then, so many ways exist of suppressing and hiding or postponing the pain felt until later. In some people, this great sadness can lead to alcohol abuse. Hey, gotta deal somehow.

A better solution exists. The solution rests with understanding the problem and wanting to change with an intensity that will overcome past pain by feeling the pain again. This is not very easy.

Men who you call real men are probably self-deluded and looking for the "real women" and thus want nothing to do with you. If you got one of these chaps, you wouldn't be happy. They have been in your life, I think, and you just didn't recognize it because there's always something that seems wrong. Maybe it's just a matter of your thinking there is something wrong with you. I don't know. Although that is often the case from my experience.

The real men are out there. And for you people who lament over the dearth of real women, they're all around you. Why a few can be found in this thread. ;). And you won't find them in the stupor and wonders of alcohol.

There are ways out if you want to take them Sarah. You just have to make the first steps.

Cheers ! :)

okay here's some attention ;)

btw, i don't think these "real men" would really want to go after some woman who just drinks a lot and wonders where the real men are. just a thought... be proactive... don't go through life like some piece of driftwood.

This reminds me of a conversation I had a while ago. A girl with fake boobs, fake nails, fake eyelashes, make up covering her face, etc. was bitching about not finding any real men. I just had to laugh.

Good luck with your search.

<<if this is actually you--- doesnt' seem like you'd have a hard time finding a guy becuase you're hot.>>

Sarah. I've already told you this. If you're really starving attention, anytime you want to talk, I'm always around. Just PM me.

Viper. At least she can admit that she has a problem. That's the first step to getting some help.

Dear Girl,
You don't find prime beef in the pigpen. Go to church! The only Real man is one who wants to be like Christ.
