Nobody has them in stock and the only places that do are charging 20% over MSRP! WTF!!!

The local Microcenter had two for $799 each and I should have just snapped them up pricegouging be damned! D:

They have been in and out of stock just about every day at EVGA.com.
I guess they are selling as fast as they can make them.

Typical Nvidia paper launch.
Eh, this isn't unusual. Dual-GPU cards are low volume parts. They'll go in and out of stock regularly, particularly when there are only a few partners shipping cards. I wouldn't make much of it as long as they don't continue to be out of stock.

Are you sure it just isn't NV being the reason the volume is low ? Since there are 6 "6990" cards in stock.:\

Maybe they are selling all they can make. I check Newegg each and every morning for GPU prices. And to be quite honest, I haven't seen a 590 in stock for some time now.

Maybe there has been a recall that has been silent, then shortly, the market may be flooded with them. Time will tell.

Few weeks back, I almost got to grab a GTX295 for $189 on Newegg. But added to cart, and was out of stock. But you can bet your butt, if it had been there, at that price, it would have been all mine.

soft/botched launch
There is a difference between paper launch, and selling fast. Comments of newegg has been increasing, show that the were stocks. Granted, there are not a lot, but many 6990 was OoS last week too. Those cards ain't for mainstream cards and won't be massively produced.

For the EVGA card...12 of the 16 reviews are not verified owners. So who knows if they really have them. Meaning if they do have a 590, it most likely wasn't purchased from Newegg.

Have you cross check with the other side about the same findings?

This is not a high volume card.

They launched with only several hundred units to begin with.

They blow up faster than they can make them.

At this point in the thread there have been several cogent posts regarding legitimate responses to the OP's inquiry. Yours is just inflammatory baiting (trolling) at this point.

This is about right. The only guy I know who bought one had to RMA it back because it was DOA, and then he had to get a refund because they couldn't swap it out. He ended up buying a 6990 instead.

BTW, EVGA does have a 2 pack of them for only $1,429.99! Hurry!

Those 2 packs are getting snapped up by the armed forces to be used as claymores.

Set off a trip wire, gtx 590 powers up and KA-BOOM.

I know some won't want to consider it, but sounds like real short supply that they can only supply enough for their own direct sales, and then only in limited quantities. Fermi is over a year old now and they are on the second generation of them. Yields should be good enough by now to supply the markets needs. Maybe, at $700 retail they aren't making enough to want to supply too many? Just a guess, because the short supply makes no sense.

Keep telling yourself that it's short stocking issues. Why are there only 2 manufacturers on Newegg with 1 model each and they're both out of stock? By now, all manufacturers would be selling them if there wasn't a problem.

nVidia is fixing their mistake and taking them all off the market...that's all there is to it.
