When will the GTX 680 prices drop?

The GTX685 at $550 would be a good deal (based on what we know today, if true). The gTX680 at $500 currently is not a good deal in my opinion. I am tempted to just grab myself a 580 at $360 and wait for the 700 series.

I'll sell you mine :p

The GTX 680 is priced fairly considering how the other cards perform, but I personally find most of the midrange cards $50-60 overpriced considering how they perform.

Not really. Considering most games can be maxed out of a 6950 at 1080p without aa that actually deserves a price of $200-250 and that is where it is

We are comparing from five to ten years in the past and not accounting for inflation

That's the core of the issue that cropped up from the very beginning, these 28nm GPUs have at least a $50-100 premium attached.

I thought I might buy a 28nm card in May but now it looks like I will hold out until Fall/Winter. The 7870 and Nvidia equivalent would need to be under $300 for me to consider them.
